After cleaning the MAF and throttle body car was idling high and check engine light came on; car was running REALLY rough. I tried this then my car would not start. Waited a few minutes then it started and now runs great. My car has 224,000+ miles and is much needed for traveling to medical appointments. I cannot tell you how grateful I am. Thank you VERY much. 😊

I had an auto parts store check my alternator and they told me I needed a new alternator. Anyhow I found your video and I followed all the steps and now it runs perfectly! I've had this problem on my Corolla every time I changed the battery or disconnected the terminals. I changed my battery yesterday and had the problem come back again and the fix in this video worked. Always thought it had something to do with the computer losing its mapping data due to the reset. Dude!! Thank you! I just replaced my spark plugs on my 2007 Camry and had the battery disconnected. Same iridium plugs it had and it was idling pretty bad. I drove it around thinking the computer would figure things out but still idled rough. Thank you for this!!

Holy crap this actually worked. I have a 2009 toyota matrix 1.8L. Had very rough idle when warm. Idled about 500rpm and after doing this it now idles about 700rpm and is very smooth. Thank much!

Thank you for instructing me on how to reset the idle speed on my car. I was somewhat dumbfounded about why I didn't understand that the idle had to be reset after you disconnect the battery on the car when installing a new alternator.

Awesome fix for my 2011 Camry! Thank you. I had my throttle body cleaned out on my 2009 Rav4 which somewhat took care of the problem but now that I think of it, the rough idle in that car started after I changed the battery...if only I had researched this prior to paying for that wasted service.

lol someone made a lot of cash off you that day. you do not need to do anything to the engine. Any time you disconnect the battery the engine computer loses all its memory. Same as taking the PRAM battery out of a computer.

i wasnt really a wasted service, as cleaning your throttle body regularly is part of general maintenance

This saved my Camry! I was so worried that something more serious was going on but I was sure it couldn't be intake control valve or throttle body, or wiring since all I did was disconnect the black battery terminal to do work on my car the day before. Now I know for the future. Many thanks!

Any time you disconnect the battery the engine computer loses all its memory. Same as taking the PRAM battery out of a computer.

I ran out my garage when it worked 😂 so tomorow will be the big test but man it was a good feeling seeing the check engine leave man god bless you and your family

Thank you, this video was a HUUUUUGE help!! Not once but twice. Replaced my battery, had this problem, fixed it. 3 weeks later, battery terminal was slightly loose and caused the car to lose all power when I tried to turn the engine on. Cleaned and tightened it really tight and tried again and car turned on but same problem as before, very rough idle. Did this again and I’m good to go. Totally helped that we have literally the exact same car except I’m at 154k mileage haha

Man, you saved me. This was my last hope. I had disconnected the battery on my 08 Tacoma to upgrade the alternator. Ended up replacing valve cover gaskets, fuel injectors, fuel regulator, fuel pump upgrade, intake plenum gasket, upgraded to URD Tundra 74mm throttle body…etc. I thought I had messed something up. I was checking the diagnostics PIDs on my scanner and started troubleshooting. Came across this video, did a test drive, and so far so good! Thank you thank you thank you

Dude you’re a legend!!! Just replaced my Valve cover gasket and had to disconnect batter before disconnecting my alternator to move the wires out of the way. Finished repair and drive off thinking it was all good and my car almost died at the first stop sign. Been sitting here making a list of things to check regarding the vacuum hoses and wires I unplugged/moved and found this video. Did this first since it was the easiest and my car is back to normal!

It didn’t even take but 1 and a half minutes for i to idle at a higher more healthy level. Thank you for this!

Just did both sequences for throttle reset based off this video and google. My 2020 trd Tacoma had a set idle of 1,000 after I did this but then 5 minutes down the road it went back to idling around 600 rpm again. 74k miles exact

My 2004 camry dies after idling at low rpm. Then it doesn't start. I got my starter tested at Advance Auto Parts, and it ran over there and passed the test. Now everytime my car dies after idling at extremely low rpm, i have to whack the starter a couple times to start. I cant even do this procedure if the car keeps dying on me.

I haven’t drove my car for a month and the mechanic’s told me it might be a engine problem or something with the fuel system , so I checked my fuse box and it was a bad etcs fuse #10 and my car is good now.
