Tues Jan. 24, 2023 (10pm Pacific) Oh, I loved John Candy. “Uncle Buck!” 😳🤭😂🦜Thanks for the allusion-comparing him to jokester, Elon Musk. What a thought! 😀🎶😅🦃🌿 Some people lose and regain their fortunes many times throughout life. Elon’s creative & “driven” enough to continue entertaining people for many years. I had my Taco in the dealership for my free oil change and tire rotation. Two of the service guys there were telling me that they have been getting Tacos (ones made in Mexico) in for a lot of electrical problems, often having to replace the dash wire harness. I was very disheartened to hear this and I’m glad that my Taco was made in Texas.

The last Toyota I owned and loved driving was my 92' 4runner lol. I bought it with 300k miles and drove it until the transmission crapped out at 489,000. It burned oil sure but I just refilled it with cheap Walmart stuff and it ran like a champ. I couldn't say the same for the Toyotas I've bought in recent years (I've ended up selling all of them and sticking with my 05 Chevy Colorado)

Even repair parts can be defective right out of the box. It's all about maxing out production numbers and that means letting everything out the door with as little quality control as possible. Quality control means a defective item doesn't get sold. Let the customer be the quality control. On top of that, make it too expensive to fix. The odds are in the manufacturer's favor that it will be too much of a hassle to get a refund or exchange. Where did this all come from? Reaganomics aka neoliberal economics. Among many evils it spawned, it gutted trade regulations that protected home markets from foreign dumping of junk goods.

All the crap this costumer is talking about Toyota Yaris is completely covered by the toyota Warranty. You expect the cheapest car of the lineup to have the quality control of a Lexus? That’s the reason why the car is cheap, you have to do some quality controll by yourself before you buy it or take them back to the dealership and fix them under warranty. Toyota is still the king of Value for the Money and Reliability. If you want a flawless Toyota than go for a Lexus, just don’t complain for small things on an economy mass production car. That’s too ridiculous.

Unfortunately Toyota appears to have sucked themselves into the bean counting game. It’s sad. I guess building cars to last 300k doesn’t make as much money as building a car to last 100k. I even see a decline in quality from our Japanese made 2004 Highlander to our US made 2012 Highlander. Little rattles, paint isn’t nearly as good, other parts that are cheap and break that don’t in the ‘04. We have 171k on our 2012 so it’s still a good vehicle but I wouldn’t buy a new car from anybody right now. And Toyota wants us to buy their turbo Tundra, no thanks!

From late 2021 to 2022, I was looking to buy a new truck. Toyota tacoma, Ford ranger & Nissan Frontier. I never considered the Honda Ridgeline. After driving all of them, I ended up with the new Ridgeline. New styling , it was the most comfortable, best visibility, and ride, best gas mileage. It also has superior storage. Toyota's have the worst visibility, and they feel like a tin box. They are noisy, not comfortable, and have little power. Overpriced and overrated .

It’s not just down under, I live in California, I have a 22 Corolla SE, it’s utter garbage, OB2 connector broken and hanging down, the door for the cabin filter broken and was not even clipped in, transmission, rough and jerks badly, (cvt) engine vibration at idle goes through the whole car, AC as I found out, in hot weather is useless, lane tracing is dangerous, it pulls to the left of the Lane and rides lines, it vibrated at speed, it took two dealerships to fix that issue at cost to me, wheel balancing is not covered once tot buy it and complain after a freeway drive, Toyota said the useless transmission is within limits, and the lane tracing in on limits as it does not fully go over the line into the next lane, no lights on any door switches, only one usb, no volume control on apple car play, Toyota today is total junk. I’ve test drove a Hyundai, say what you want about them, after the PD dropping Toyota due to build quality, reliability issues, and terrible service departments, and 4 years of Hyundai’s on the fleet, I’m ordering a kona.

Four month old Celica has had two repairs ($200-$300 each) and already rotors are warped and need replaced. Our 2009 Camry was a lemon, but Previa, 4Runner, Sienna, Corolla, and Avalon were fantastic. Camry’s driver’s side window fell out at two weeks, computer unit replaced at 30,000, Engine sounded like a skill saw at 38,000 miles. All vehicles were given appropriate care and maintenance. Previa had 390,000 miles when we sold it, 4Runner-similar mileage.

So i don't know where else to go for help. A year ago my parents bought a 2013 Chevy Sonic with a manual transition. Whoever had it before them took very good care of it. It ran silent and got 35 mpg city 45 mpg highway. 2 months ago my mom took the car to the Chevy dealership just to get an oil change. It took an hour which is fine. Well my mom headed home and less than a mile from the dealership lights started blinking like crazy, temps went to max, the cab completely filled with smoke, and the car shut off. Mom had to get out of the car because the smoke choked her out. After a few minutes she got back in and took it back to the dealership. If i was there i would have checked the engine oil lvl and the gasket on the oil filter. My mom doesn't know anything about cars so they told her everything was fine, gave her a rental, and told her to come pick it up the next day. They detailed the car for free, filled the engine oil, and gave it back to her the next day. Before this happened you could stand right next to the car and not know it was running. Now you can hear it clearly from inside the house with the door closed, it only gets 24 mpg city 31 mpg highway, and it runs like crap. She took it back to the dealership and they said there is a giant hole in the mesh muffler, they told my mom she would need to pay them 600 dollars to fix it. It's so sad because the car was in SUCH GOOD condition, and my mom took it to the dealership to be safe. Now it's a lemon because of them! What should I do?

I had a 2009 Tundra what a pile multiple recalls set in dealership for 3 months one time waiting for a recall part at least they gave me loaner.. But just the things off the top were fuel gauge quit working, radio went out twice under warranty then they wanted 2400 to fix once out of warranty, air actuators went bad wanted 3000 to fix and that doesn't include the recalls not like the 1976 Toyota Corella I had back in day 300K plus miles still running when I traded it in nothing but general maintenance the whole time..

I think the Australian market is together with Thailand. Now Japanese brands have a grudge against this market because of import taxes forcing Japanese companies to produce local or face huge import taxes in Thailand. So they try to cheap their way out of every model sold here especially Toyota. They usually care about their reputation of reliability but they made a minimum effort the past years and they also make sure the design is older and options fewer than other markets.

"Value engineering" is something that is very delicate. With new safety features, comfort features and technology, it is very difficult to keep a balance between value, quality, reliability and the price of a new car. These days, people complain about their new vehicle. However, if all car manufacturers were all able to maintain their QDR, then I think they would lose money.
