What's crazy is the auto part stores not giving warranty to the defective parts because you already installed them.

THANK YOU for the mention of BAD PARTS. We have just encountered this issue after replacing sparks wires and more. Your video is reassuring. If it's the ignition igniter we will replace it(a diagnostic pulled this code). However, we had the pigtail replaced a couple years ago after it went bad and failsafe turn-off occurred - possibly a wire has come loose- the car just dying after going over a BUMP, turns off. We are also suspecting this might be the issue.

I’ve always had Toyota vehicles starting with my 1970 corona mark II. They run like forever if taken care of. One thing you can be sure of is if you buy aftermarket electronics you’ll have problems. Might work for a while but you’ll be changing that part again soon. You get what you pay for.

I had the same exact problem with a 1992 Camry same igniter module, at least in appearance anyway . After 3 bad ones I just went to a junk yard and got one which solved the issue. I think this is more common than one would think

I went through this with an alternator on a newer Ford car. After three parts store remans they finally got me one from the dealer. That one finally worked right.

This is why most of the parts I use now are OEM; especially anything electronic. And on a Honda, only Honda OEM with the exception of brake pads and rotors. The aftermarket parts these days are junk. Back in the 70's, Moog was outstanding for suspension parts and I used a lot of Moog parts. But, after having used Moog a couple of years ago (against my better judgement), I would not use Moog again. I wasted money on the Moog parts and had to replace the Moog with Honda. No more issues after installation of the Honda parts. Same with Standard ignition parts. Would not use them these days. I think the aftermarket is all China junk.

Actually I'm familiar with this exact fault, if there is a fracture in the auto transformer it can destroy a good igniter. Just like a short on CRV plugs can ruin the Coil on plug. The other one that can drive you crazy is overheated engine that has damaged the reluctor wind or auto wind and the car will intermittently die.

About 30 years ago I was replacing the carburetor on my 69 Chevy Caprice. I was getting the remanufactured ones by Holley but they were Rochester Quadrajets from Auto Zone. I was trying to keep the car as close to factory original as I could afford. They gave me 23 bad ones. Some of them would simply make the car run like crap, others would literally spout fuel out the top like a fountain. They finally ran out, so I just put a Carter AFB on it, turned the key & drove it home. After I tuned it, it was probably for the best.

Dad started a small shop in Missouri in the 70s. Very good mechanic not so good a business man. There were already 6 shops in a town of 850. He would take in about anything mechanical I never saw him fail to repair anything he started on. I learned alot as a kid cleaning parts and running to the parts place to get what just arrived. Took me awhile to figure out why he was so popular with women around!

Make sure the spark is strong enough . Another issue I've seen is a shorted upstream 02 sensor cause voltage issues with the ignition and create no start conditions

Weirdest thing I’ve ever dealt with still dealing with please help me😅 I have a 96T 100 four-cylinder starts up and runs great for a little while and then barely runs won’t stay running won’t drive. The weirdest thing is if you turn the key over into the start position and don’t let go at this point fuck the starter, I understand everybody’s thinking it but if you just let it eat the starter, do not let go of the key holding it all the way forward in the starter position the motor runs perfectly. You can Revit to the moon even drive it but as soon as you let off, and it goes into the run position like it supposed to, it, will do it again, it never fails if you want it to run all you Gotta do is hold that key in the start position and it will run 10 out of 10 times perfectly things I have replaced the electronic portion of the key switch fuel pump fuel pump relay throttle position sensor has a brand new tuneup. I feel like it Hass to be something that has something to do with the spark or the fuel injection and it’s failing after running for so long, but operates on two parameters one for the initial start up and one for the run position, and the part for the initial start up is still good, and that’s why does this but I don’t know if that’s what it is if it ain’t I don’t know what’s going on and I still I’m not for sure what it is. Sorry for this ridiculously long comment if anyone can help thanks maybe I should make a video and post it.

What was the name of the brand of igniter that worked for you ? I'm having the same issue with my 93 and I've done all the tests and everything checks out but the AC signal from the igniter to the ecu on the black and blue wire is not there I'm only on my second igniter and don't want to buy a million of these things before I find a good one 🤣

Got one from NAPA . It was their premium line, I believe it was Echlin (?) . Sounds nuts, but check the upstream 02 sensor to make sure it isnt shorted. That can also cause this issue. A buddy of mine had a similar issue and found that when he disconnected the 02 , the issue went away. So the actual culprit was the 02 taking out the igniter
