I just mounted mine using the stock body hinge mechanism on rear and magnets to hold the front down. Easy access and no protruding body mounts. All electronics were left in the stock position.
Thanks so much for posting this video. I picked up an SCX24 and this same AMT Hilux body. Your tips will save me a lot of head scratching! :)
You inspired me to grab my first rc, scx24, and threw this body on it. Been having a blast working on this thing. I'll have to find a way to share a picture of it when its done. Thanks for the videos.

So awesome!!! Nothing better than gaining more friends in the hobby! Welcome to the addiction 😆. I’m also on Facebook and Instagram as 2FM RC so you can always shoot some pics there if you have either!
That took some engineering. Well done.

I love that body! Very nice, well done. The overhang at the back is too much for me, gets hung up, and the weight, but the scale appeal is great. Hope to see some cool crawling videos on all these trucks you got. Thanks for the video!

Mrs. Rabbit yeah I’m hoping to get some good crawling in a video soon! I actually just bought another one of these bodies to play with a bit. I’m probably gonna cut the rear a bit to shorten it up. It actually helps keep it from flipping backwards at times tho 😂
What is the part number for the head light extension cord grom ebay?
Do you have a video of how you mounted all the internals? Like the esc and how you screwed everything in?

Also do you know if the body mount positions are different on the c10 because I’m planning on getting one of these and doing something similar but i would rather have the c10 body
@2fmrc
3 жыл бұрын
Yeah the c10 mounting positions will be slightly different than what I started with because it was a deadbolt. Should be fairly simple to make the hard body work on the c10 also though. May have to mess with the wheelbase a bit but you can make about any of them work
What are whose wheels and tires I like the stock nitto tires but there really skinny. I also like the look of Steelies

Those are the rc4wd stamped steel wheels with the rc4wd wrangler tires on my yota. They do really well!
Definitely gonna copy you lol. Love how that looks! Just wonder if it could work with the battery in the stock location 🤔

tim perkins I would say so. My magnets are basically mounted where the battery would be so I would say you could just put the magnets in a different spot.

What secret do you have putting those wagon wheels together
@2fmrc
3 жыл бұрын
Pedar01 you sort of get better the more you do them. Never easy really lol. Lately I’ve been getting the tire set on the rim,then using a small clamp on two sides of the wheel to sort of clamp down on the tire. That way it’s all set and won’t move. Then run a screw through that and line up the hex. Get a couple screws lined up and start them a good bit. Pull the clamps and make sure the tire stayed in place good. Then slowly run the other screws in. Been working pretty well. The rok lox are by far the worst tire to mount on them! The others aren’t too bad.

Thanks. Trying to mount some MTRs.
The shocks push everything so far apart that the drive shafts rub. Does that happen to yours?
@2fmrc
3 жыл бұрын
I haven’t had any issues with the driveshaft rubbing on mine. Well not any more than every scx24 has. Seems like they all rub a tiny bit at certain points of articulation but no I haven’t had an issue with mine on this setup.
How did you paint it?it’s not the same plastic as most rc shells. so did what you use work well?
@2fmrc
3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I bought some spray paint for model truck bodies and it’s held up very well so far!
What kind of glue did you use on the model? I have a Silverado model body I want to put on my scx24 Jeep chassis. Wheel base issues, I need to shorten cab or bed and glue.
@2fmrc
3 жыл бұрын
I used model glue on most of the trim work etc but for glueing the bed to the truck itself I used shoe goo. It’s held up great!

@@2fmrc much appreciated. If I chop my model cab to shorten wheelbase, I want some good strength. I like you magnet idea to hold body and hood. Your Toyota scx24 model motivated me.

@@2fmrc I appreciate your help. I found some Loctite extreme glue no drip gel at Home Depot. In my attic I ran across an old Bigfoot 1/24 scale model...and tires. I put the body on my scx24 jeep. Truck works awesome on the chasis. Glue works well, especially when left overnight. I am thinking of getting longer shocks and getting the Bigfoot tires on.
Does it still crawl well with the heavy body? How about compared to stock?
@2fmrc
3 жыл бұрын
It still crawls really well. It’s not as good as some of my other modded out rigs but it also don’t look like them. With the scale look it shouldn’t perform as well as my 4ws rig for example. It does do amazing though. Way better than a stock rig but it has a ton of mods and is HEAVY! It has a bunch of brass,all aluminum hot racing stuff including links,skid,steering links,front axle housing etc. Plus wheel weights etc so it holds it down pretty well. If you put this body on a straight stock truck it probably would hinder its performance a decent amount. With some mods it’s great though.

@@2fmrc thanks for the response This will be my only RC, I still can’t decide which way to go and if the hardbody will hinder it too much to be worth it. I was planning to do the DIY brass links, barrage motor with brass plate, wheel weights, etc and then I start to wonder if the weight it a recipe for broken parts

Where did you buy the body?
@2fmrc
Жыл бұрын
They are discontinued but I hear they are going to start making them again because they heard how popular they’ve been. It was a revell 1/20 model kit body. I just preordered one of these. The 1/20 bodies fit best. 1/24s are too small. retrohobby.com/amt-1-20-scale-1992-toyota-4x4-pickup-model-kit-amt1425/
Where can you get scx24 hard bodies?
@2fmrc
3 жыл бұрын
Any 1/20 model kit body will usually fit well. This was a 1/20 amt model truck kit. I just stole the body out of it. 1/24 kits are usually a little small for the scx24 for some reason. 1/20 is perfect.
