My first car in 1990 was a RT40 1969 Toyota Corona built at AMI port Melbourne . I loved that car and polished away 21 years of use and she shone like a new pin. I did such a good job it was stolen and sripped . My next car was a Mazda 808 wagon. If I had both of these cars today and sold them I could buy a brand new 200 series Landcruser or an CX9 with change left over. I wonder which basic mass production car will be worth money in the future . RT40 won imported car of the year Road and Track magazine in 1965 .

I have one in built in Peru 1975 18r. From my teenager grandfather to my dad then now its mine!

If still in production, sales of the Corona would probably be way down, same as the Mexican beer. Blame whoever was authorized to give the virus a name.

They have always called these viruses Corona because when studied under a micro scope they have a Corona just like the sun. Covid19 is now the biological name for this virus and from now on thats what it should be referred as. The common Cold is also in the Corona Virus category , Toyota named the Corona in reference to the sun and can claim to be the first to use it for branding along side the beer . Human nature is a strange thing and in these times we see the best and worst . I personally Like the name Cressida which allegedly came from a Greek Godess or Princess of the sun . Every Toyota made had a name starting with C up until the Starlet came along . I like the names of Japanese cars , Cedric from Nissan / Datsun eventually changed to the 300C in Australia because Cedric was considered daggy .

This is not actually a name of a virus. Corona in Latin means crown

In love with the Corona line of Toyota. We currently own a 97 Corona Exsior MT, still a reliable car.

I have my Dad's 74 2 door hardtop...it will never be sold
