    The oil filter removed off of the vehicle is the original oil filter installed when the engine was built. Toyota dealership apparently was not changing the oil filter, so that filter has 30,000 miles of usage. There is no actual superseding part number. You will only find that part number on the original filter.

    I never thought of it that way you’re probably right. I changed it and the dealer also put the same filter on that I used.One thing I’ve noticed now is the dealers do not replace the crush washers on the Toyota care services. Both my Corolla and Rav4s were done at 30k . I had to scrape them off they are one or 2 oil changes away from leaking they were so compressed .

    What’s wrong with getting an oil change with Toyota dealership? Some comments advise against it here. is there a particular reason why?

    I have the same car same color. Only thing you forgot was to reset the tpms and tire pressure 38F 36R. I didn't let the dealer do any oil changes can't risk it. Mine is a 2020 purchased new May 2020 and I only have 11k miles on it. About to do a long road trip with it around US and Canada starting in Maine and heading south.

    I did do both I lost the footage unfortunately. You hardly drive your car. I traded mine in back in 2022. I got $3000 more than I paid for brand new. I was having trouble with my neck for a while, getting in and out of the Corolla was aggravating it. I got the RAV4 prime much easier to get out of. It’s really not that much worse on fuel.

    @JohnDiMartino I got tboned right before I bought that and ended up having a neck and 2 back surgeries. Totalled a nice Avalon. This hybrid has seen rain once since new. Previous to the accident I drove 40-80k miles a year. Leaving in the morning to head from Maine to Florida and then spending the rest of February in Louisiana before continuing west. I have a 2001 V6 Camry with snows and a built 07 Civic si also which share usage. Needed something I didn't have to think about. I'm averaging around 60mpg long term. Best tank was over 68 worst 51.

    I do not I’m sorry, these hybrid brakes last 100k easily they were still like new at 35k when I sold the car. The maintenance is similar to the Corolla, you shouldn’t need brakes at 30k unless you live in a northern (road salt) state or do lot of city driving . Road salt state vehicles get a really good look at the back side of the rear rotors they are most likely to delaminate and rust out . The fronts last a lot longer in salt states as there’s no road mist coating them . Rear brakes get the road salt mist bath anytime your driving down the road wet in the winter ..

    Hard to say but there’s no idle time once it warms up . That alone saves engine run time and anytime you lift the throttle it shuts off and doesn’t restart until you are pressing down enough to go about 40-45 mph on flat ground once you push past that it starts. On highway trips it runs 99 percent of the time only shuts when coming off the interstate . My guess is 75 -80 percent of the miles it’s running

  • @JohnDiMartino

    @JohnDiMartino

    Жыл бұрын

    Absolutely . I recommend you do your own services , if you are comfortable doing so. The dealers don’t care about your vehicle like you do . They don’t make money on services unless they sell work and that’s kinda hard ona newer low mile vehicle under warranty. Most try to get them in and out as soon as possible . Just follow the owners manual as far as when to do maintenance , always follow the severe schedule on oil changes if you want the engine to last as long as the car .I recommend you use OEM filters at least while under powertrain warranty . Keep your receipts and your covered if you are ever questioned about warranty required maintence . I even entered my service records on my vehicles carfax for further documentation .

    It depends on how far I push it and what time of the year it is. I can comfortably get 550-600. That takes about 9-9.5 gallons to fill it . That’s my daily driving if I do highway only and run at 75+ with traffic I will only get about 500 on the same 9 gallons an average is about 55 at 75 to 80 . The daily average is about 62-64 For the spring summer and fall in the winter it’s a little less because I run the heat a lot. Mind you I don’t try to get great mileage I just drive it if you were to go slow and go the speed limit I’m sure you can do a little better. Bleed your brakes and replace the fluid every 2 years maximum. The Toyota service manual includes this job in the appropriate service every 2 years. Brake fluid is hygroscopic, absorbing water from the atmosphere, which will corrode the brake master cylinder etc. from the inside out.
