Toyota Chaser: 4 Door Supra of Our Dreams ??

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Matt tests a 500-horsepower Toyota Chaser; the JDM, upscale, luxury sedan by Toyota that most Americans have never heard of, let alone seen. Think of it as a rear-wheel drive, turbocharged Camry, or, better yet, a true four-door Supra.

The Toyota Chaser is a wolf in a sheep's clothing. Very underrated car. They are cheaper too compare to Civic or Integra Type R , Evolution, Skylines and Rx7. Shit, I dunno where you are getting that cheap shit from, if its under 8k here in Japan, it has been A. Wrecked, B. +mick slippy yea im talking around 7-8 k Canadian Dollars. My friend who imported a 1999 ER34 manual with 140xxx in it yea it is a bit high but he said a chaser will be roughly 7-8 k CAD with japanese yen tax plus the tax here in our province so maybe 1 grand. Definitely not over 10k . He got his ER34 which is a 3.5 geade for like 9500

  • @fpsColton

+Mark I think your friend is referring to the 4AT chasers not the factory 5MT tourer V which tends to cost significantly more. I'm getting a grade 4 Mark II Tourer V for around the price you quoted, but a 5MT car would be nearly double, the current Chaser Tourer I have is much cheaper since it is not a Tourer V.

+NightRush no man it's manual. He showed me the website we were browsing direct from japan auction. he understand japanese even if he is taiwanese . but it is grade 3.5 and with alil high km. Ofcourse price will vary too depending on the body condition and everything else but he told me the best bang for the back would be a Subaru B4 Twin Turbo. Costs around 4-6k CAD with all the taxes.

  • @fpsColton

+Mark Hmm I bet that's a swapped car. I was just talking to a local importer and his most recently landed auto->5MT swap JZX100 was still around $14,000 all said and done (with our weak dollar). Good condition examples with < 100k km and factory 5MT in Tourer V trim are well over $10,000.

If you love cars, Automation The Car Tycoon is by far your best invest in terms of a game. You not only gain hours of fun but KNOWLEDGE about how your engine truly works. I bought it thinking i knew everything about engines and turbine, but with this game, it has increase my knowledge and visually shown me why an engine works the way it does and how power is made. Automation will make you want to learn, build, and invest your skills into building the ultimate engine. Seriously! Addicting!!!

It's because the cars did not have the Propper paper work to import them. No one thought these types of cars would sell well here. Really to make them legal they needed to have a few crash tested, emissions is more of a Cali thing. But other than the paperwork that is what holds them back. We need them to just allow us to import them already, but alas we must wait till the car is 25 years old so that safety regs won't apply to a registered classic car.

TheSmokingTire Ganador is a JDM aftermarket company that makes aero mirrors. They're a lot sleeker than the OEM mirrors. They have multiple applications and they very good looking. It's awesome that I'm finally getting to post something directly to you Matt. I've been watching your stuff for several years now and I love it all. Keep it up, I hope to meet you one day and down a few brewskies when you come to NYC.

Thanks for profiling this car! My favorite is a '95 Cresta (JZX90) and the JZX100 variant, so it's cool seeing it's sister in the limelight! I love the JZ engines but the 1JZ sounds a lot smoother to me compared to the 2JZ. Both are bonkers and great engines! Haha I wish I kept my first car, a MA70 Supra and swapped a JZ engine in it! Now I'm looking for a Cressida, IS300, or a GS300 to make into a makeshift JZX until I can import one! If you love Four doors, especially Toyota ones, we need to be friends.

Why is the Toyota Chaser so popular in Russia?

  • @kanaric

    @kanaric

    7 жыл бұрын

Skylines are too. Think about it this way. In Japan Skylines are EVERYWHERE they basically are the Mustang of Japan. Forget the GTR. That is like the Shelby Cobra of Japan. The Toyota Chaser was that cars direct competition. It was originally built to take on the Skyline (and was originally a Coupe). That "battle" continued on. Both were built in MASSIVE numbers to a point where they are dirt cheap. So you will see a lot of them in Russia because of it. The big stuff like the Supra are too expensive even now, this car is basically a Japanese LS1 Camaro and at the same price you can get a shitty Camaro for.

you have got to be joking. America has the greatest car culture in the world. the US custom/hot rod car culture is amazing. in Europe we have nothing like that. modifying cars is illegal in France. in Ireland you can't really legally insure anything modified, that's if you can afford the motor tax. in the US you can do anything you want. sucks that you are not allowed imports though...

YES! my very first car that I received from my father back in 2003 was a 1991 mazda 929s. truthfully, I thought the car was a p.o.s. and lamented having to be seen in it while my good friends were rolling around in mustangs, camaros and lifted trucks (I live in Texas). BUT! the car had something in it that absolutely nobody elses vehicle had (hmm, is that a good or a bad thing? lol) right to left oscillating A/C vents! a simple button labelled 'swing' was positioned on the center stack that turned the oscillating feature on and off. amazingly, that component worked flawlessly even past the day I had to say goodbye to the car due to the transmission biting the dust back in 2004. I've never seen it in any other car I've ever been in before or after. oh, memories...

The important thing to mention is that there is a particular mod: TourerV. Any other chaser (like grande or somethin else) might have 1gfe\1jzge (which are NA versions). They don't have that fancy carbon trims, no LSD and different brakes (might be wrong bout that). Anyways, any markII, cresta or chaser containing TourerV in it's name will have 1jz-gte and a better suspension. Regards from Moscow.
