Daveros Garrett The engine in the Lancia Delta S4 produced up to 1,000 horsepower during testing, but was limited to under 700 for reliability and because the car was already too powerful. If I remember correctly, one of the last crashes in Group B was in a Delta and that morning, the driver said that the car was too powerful. It wasn't like the Stratos, which was just naturally unpredictable. The Delta S4, Peugeot 205, Renault 5 and so on were all bona fide widow makers in the wrong hands. That's why Group B drivers were, and still are to a good extent, considered to be the best of the best of the best. (No, that wasn't a typo. Men In Black, baby.) And rally cars are as powerful as Group B cars were, have better handling and are much faster off the line and through the corners. If the regulations were as lenient now as they were in Group B, those cars would travel at Ludicrous Speed.

My dad owned an 89 celica alltrac turbo That is what the "GT Four" was sold as in the US. Canada got the "Celica Turbo 4wd" That car was a blast and it was built it took 20psi of boost all day

Alex P I personally love it because they were so smart allowing to restrictor plate to barley move, so they had full power, instead of 25% restricted. passed so many technical inspections before anyone noticed.

Kinda weird seeing a car that (in U.S. Car culture) is almost always looked down upon because of its low power and FWD set up. But this one on the other hand, with 300ish (guessing) HP and most likely rear or AWD is a monster! Love it!

Eshrekticism its a very nice car to have and its getting harder to find one with less than 100k miles in good condition... and its better than the new celica they only did fwd on the new ones i hate that... toyota should made the new ones rwd at least

In Europe the GT (fwd) have a nice 3SGE with 175hp and is not so underpowered, but ofcourse the ST205 is a different beast anyway. I have one of each and both are really nice cars.

I still remember when I saw that red Celica the first time also drove by the same man Tibor Érdi. Glory days of Hungarian Rally Championship. Sadly he never won the championship with it. And I glad to see, Juha "The smooth" Kankkunen still knows how to steer the car. :D Thanks for this video!

Whenever someone says rally: usually people thinks straight to the evo, the wrx or the quattro. This is the car i think of however

I love this car, one of the best made by Toyota

Very good thumbnail... I still love this video. What a car

man one of my earliest memories of this car is flipping through the channels landing on eurosport and seeing a celica flying over a jump on a dirt track, got me interested in watching rally but little did i know they were gone be mia the next year... and so ended my interest in watching rally (the eventual corolla just didn't do it for me loved watching/hearing this thing tear up the stages) a shame that most modern rally cars are bite sized, it's more impressive when they pull it off in something the size of a celica/lancer/imprezza :P was 4 or 5 at the time, now have a 6th gen celica st.... a far cry from the st205 but maybe someday if rust doesn't consume them or the sheer rareness prices it to unobtainium prices

Not sure about on boards but theres a video somewhere on yt that's like an hour and twenty minutes long of just St165 and St185 footage from the late 80s early 90s

Dream toyota behind the supra, maybe better because they are relativly well priced( still expensive but unlike the supras regular 100k + price tag)

This is my favorite Toyota. Honestly we can call this as "the poor mans Supra" I mean it's quite cheap, and can preform just as good. Seriously try to beat this on a dirt track with a Supra, I dare you!
