展示車両のほぼすべてを走行可能な「動態保存」としていることは、トヨタ博物館の最大の特徴のひとつです。
館内で上映している走行映像の内、販売用DVDに収録されていないものをKZreadにて公開いたします。
メルセデス ベンツ 500K（1935年）について：
ダイムラー社とベンツ社は1926年に合併し、クルマの名前はメルセデスベンツとなりました。当時ダイムラー社の主任設計技師だったフェルディナント･ポルシェ博士は1927年にSシリーズという高性能車を完成させ、それは数々のレースに目覚しい活躍をしました。
こちらの500Kは、Sシリーズの後継モデルですが、Sシリーズが純粋なスポーツカーであったのに対し、こちらは高度に洗練された豪華なツーリングスポーツカーといった性格でした。
500はエンジンの排気量5000ccを、Kはコンプレッサーすなわちスーパーチャージャーを意味しています。スーパーチャージャーはアクセルを床までいっぱい踏みつけることにより作動して、最高出力を100馬力から160馬力へ高めることができました。
Kシリーズは1934年から36年までの間におよそ300台造られました。

Mercedes-Benz 500K (1935):
Daimler and Benz merged in 1926 to form the famous Mercedes-Benz company. Daimler's chief engineer and designer, Dr. Ferdinand Porsche, developed the powerful S series in 1927, and it went on to win numerous races.
The 500K is the successor to the S series. While the S series were pure sports cars, this is a more elegant touring car with a touch of luxury.
The 500 stands for the 5,000cc engine displacement, while the K comes from the German for compressor; that is, the engine is supercharged. The supercharger comes into operation when the accelerator is floored, increasing the power output from 100 to 160 horsepower.
About 300 of this model were produced between 1934 and 1936.
