I also have a 2023 4Runner pro. I have a suggestion for you. 10k miles in I changed the tires as the Nitto's it comes with has like a zero rating for now and ice. I put LT tires Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac RT (load range E 10ply) and besides it being better in snow it also completely changed the ride for the better. It feels more planted, takes bumps better and doesnt wallow over the road. Made me love the 4runner even more.

Thanks a ton, great suggestion! I appreciate you taking the time to let me know about something that works well! The 4Runner is such a great machine, and the right tires can make all the difference. Now I have something else to get installed on the 4Runner. :) Enjoy your awesome ride!

Great video, thanks for posting this, like another person commented that this is the best video so far with your clear explanations on all the steps. Just one question, I noticed you said you changed your oil at 3,000 miles? Or 6 months? So you don't do it every 5,000 miles (due to driving habits) or every 10,000 miles like Toyota recommends. BTW, nice well lit garage!

Great video. The only thing I’d add is to get the skid plate bolts in by hand before hitting it with an impact. My local dealership was kind enough to NOT do that and cross threaded the bolts. Great video

This is a very detailed explanation. Thanks. The only thing that I don't agree with is that you're changing your oil every 3k miles. Isn't that overdoing it? Specially with full synthetic which toyota recommends every 7,500 to 10,000 miles and 3000 to 5000 for conventional oil. It's your money, just something to point out.

Have a 23 TRD off road in lunar rock….first change 700km. Lots of metal….second 1300km little metal, third 2500km. No metal. First couple oil changes in any new motor are crucial to longevity. Love this vehicle and it will love you back.

Did one at 900 miles, lot of metal, second one at 2852 no metal. plan to do one every 3k miles.

@@rositahl I just started using 5w30. I think the 0 20 is not good in the hotter weather.

Thank you bought a 2023 trd off road premium and will do my oil changes also. Question does it drain well using ramps? Just the regular gorilla ramps that are not too crazy high.

Great purchase! Yes, where the drain plug is located, using ramps shouldn't effect what drains out, good question! If you are concerned, you could sacrifice 1/8 quart or so of new oil and pour it in topside to help displace anything that could be in the bottom of pan with drain plug still out, but that isn't necessary. Go for it! 😊

I actually just leave the original washer on it and re-use it. I do the same thing with my filter, just let it drain out slowly without taking that small cap out.

I'm new to the 4.0 and Toyota engine oil filters, why do I see some of the oil filter housing tools say 64 mm or 64.3mm? Please advise and thanks in advance

glad you mentioned Car Care Nut and also about prefilling the oil filter. I have to mention the Motor Oil Geek channel that does a really deep dive on the benefits of pre-filling: kzread.info/dash/bejne/a2dtubaen9WonrQ.html

If you REALLY want to take “good” care of your 4Runner, (or any Toyota) You should really use Toyota or at minimum a premium brand oil. But you will NEVER go wrong with using the factory oil. Even CCN says, don’t use aftermarket parts or fluids if at all possible. Then they will last 1,000,000 miles.
