Well, the exhaust cam was off took it apart did what this video instructed put it together without the valve cover on spark plug wires in the cap on it crank first hit thank you very much for his video that was an answered prayer

After I did a head gasket replacement the car did not start. After watching this video and applying it my car is back up and running and stronger than ever. I just took it and passed emissions. I have a 1990 toyota celica 2.2 thanks again! If your ever in Tucson AZ and need anything let me know.

I have a 2.2 5sfe also, a 1992 Celica 5speed. The timing set is the same on all of these 5sfe engines. It's the last engine I will ever own. : D

Yes but sprocket needs to come out So yes it can be done

My question is when did y set the cams shaft set ten degrees. Bee fr top dead center. In yr film and where did. Y set. The pin fr ten degrees. Be fr. Top dead center. As every time I set my cams as y said my car does not run at all. O e more question where is number one on the distributor cap when y set the cam as y did. Where is number one wire go. There are 4 places to. Put number one. Please answer my questions soon as I hve been trying to mke my car start fr a month and a half. Now I hve tken it apart 30 times it does not run. At all if y answer my questions. I'll. Try it again. Please answer soon. Thanx

i didnt put a bolt through the cam gears what happens then. does it effect the timing? it looked ok and the timing marks are like you said. my camry is missing and doesnt run right is it becuase of my mistake?

The bolt is who brings the cam to time with gear It acts like a variable time but adjusted before installation So I would say yes has to do with the misalignment

My Head shop technician said it allows gear to mesh correctly with companion cam gear on that side of gear "split" to avoid rattling ..

just for clarification after u were done you removed the 10m bolt from the exhaust cam?

Did you also have to put the crankshaft pulley to Top dead center before this all or after or not necessary?

Christian Tover No really necessary if you are close enough... check my other video to see the marks, but it will be good idea not to have it exact since you have to move the cams after u set them on time!

This motor timing the point confuse me

Just the explanation I needed. I have a question about the bolt you have in the exhaust cam gear. Is that a must that it is in before aligning? And also, should the crankshaft be on 0? Or a little before zero?would that effect anything?

I get the crankshaft position now. Don't want the piston flat basically during install but after the camshafts are installed properly, then set crankshaft to 0 and set camshaft to the mark through the little hole on the gear

Well for me is a must to have the crank before 0 to mate sure that if cams spin on you the valves wont hit the pistons Now the bolt on camshaft is needed only when cams are removed thats is due to the gear has a spring on it that moves the time when cam removed and the only way to hold it in place while installing is with that little bolt! @@vdubbeatz You are going to have a tough time installing bolt if not done before removal of cam . There is supposedly a alternate method to install bolt .with special "clamp' tool. According to sources gear will rattle if not done right. My head shop man installedl the bolt on my exhaust cam.

I did this, but when I am turning the crank pulley or rotating it, it stops in about a turn and won't continue turning. Why do you think is the cause?

Something is misaligned Cause this method always works for me Try verifying all time steps And please let us know how it goes for you

@@GeneralMechanicGA Before do the alignments, you have to put cyl #1 to TDC right? I did that before the cams alignment.

So you trying to turn cams by them selfs? Be cause if yes they will stop because you have engine at tdc You have to have engine before tdc in order to not hit piston
