Toxins In Fragrances And Artificial Scents

Beth Greer had been living what she considered a healthy lifestyle when a medical crisis prompted her to reevaluate everything-from the food she ate to the personal-care products she used and the environment she lived in. Join us as she reveals the alarming extent of the dangerous chemicals we unwittingly expose ourselves to every day. As she did in her own life, she invites people to put their lives under a microscope-to scrutinize what Americans put in and on their bodies and bring into their homes-and to make personal choices that will enable them to "live clean" in a toxic world.
At a time when impeccable scientific research points to an alarming correlation between common chemical compounds and cancers, allergies, psychiatric disorders, and birth defects, among other serious health concerns, Beth gives us the tools to start protecting themselves and their families.
Beth Greer, the Super Natural Mom®, is one of the foremost experts on sustainable and toxin-free living. She is an award-winning journalist, recently named one of the Top 50 Health & Environmental Journalists to Follow in 2016, and is the author of the best-selling book, “Super Natural Home” (endorsed by Deepak Chopra and Ralph Nader).
Beth experienced first-hand the powerful benefits of holistic, toxin-free living. She eliminated a sizable tumor in her chest without drugs or surgery by detoxing her body and her home, and, she found powerful holistic approaches that helped her teenaged daughter overcome ADHD and addiction to drugs and alcohol.

    Every artificial fragrance I have ever smelt is disgusting. I don't understand how people can like them at any capacity. Blows my mind. Just snort some febreeze and leave everyone else's nose alone.

    this is what i dont understand either, how can the people who wear these actually think they smell pleasent, and how do they always end up using so much you can smell them 100 metres away in outdoor air. its like they have 0 intuition left, or they are robots simmed into real life to make the public sick

    Let me guess. You have long underarm hair and you like your natural stinky smell. Wash your ass and use a goddamn perfume because this is what people do. Stop listening to those scammers who try to wash your small brain with all kind of lies. We all are going to die from something. Enjoy your stupid life. Use perfume, drink, smoke... life is short and you don t want to die healthy and bored.

    Agree. I can’t stand being around people who wear too much! It’s like they have zero self-awareness. That doesn’t fly in business & sales, no one wants to be around those ppl bc it’s just way too much. Luckily, they usually get filtered out in the interview process but we were taught never to overdo fragrances. Like a teenage boy that just discovered Axe body spray is what these grown adults wearing too much fragrance reminds me of.. unbelievable. 😷 It makes me feel sick & gives me a headache just being around it & I try to stay as far away as possible. It feels like an assault on my senses, tbh. I can’t even imagine what it’s doing to their body, hormones, etc. I’m always searching for healthy & natural alternatives to things bc I have sensitive skin & a keen sense for smell.. but those are hard to find & typically more expensive. Anyways. Totally agree & I don’t understand how people can do this either! I wish they wouldn’t. We have 3 at our office like that & I won’t go near them unless I have to. 🤕🥴 A good documentary to watch about the harmful effects of fragrance in our products is called, “Stink.” It’s very informative!

    This is why sometimes as a soap maker, I am tempted to use fragrance oils but no... I won’t do it. Unscented products do sell much slower, but it’s the right thing to do.

    Anyone reading this! when she says orange sprays are safe be careful don't go sticking EOs undilluted into a spray bottle and start spraying your eyes or skin it's not safe. This orange spray she's referring to I'm hopping would have been diluted into a carrier if it was an essential oil, orange essential oil is collected from the rines of the orange which are squeezed out also known as D-limonene this will burn your skin especially in sunlight if applied at 100% so If your doing a diy check ifra for the safe restricted use and use in a carrier of your choice

    @Shallowworld I concede that if you're buying candles from china, there's no telling what they might have done to get the price down. However, a US maker of wicks should be testing the metal(s) they add to the wick for lead or other dangerous heavy metals.

    Probably to make your skin worse so that you buy more of the product, counting on the consumer not making the connection. The people who run companies which compromise the health of their consumers and the health of the entire world just to smell "good" are evil.

    Great video, I was hoping she'd mention perfumes and aftershaves, they don't have to list ingredients, it's a lot of the same crap, sprayed directly onto your skin and excessively inhaled

  • @user-yw8nb2hz1g
    @user-yw8nb2hz1g4 ай бұрын

    First off essential oils applied directly on the skin is not safe. They need to be diluted. Second not all fragrances and scents are bad. Her explanation is like saying fast food is bad. It's too generic. You can eat fast food moderatly, exercise and still be healthy. With fragrances people get scared of the word chemicals. Their are strict regulations to prevent high doses of certain products. Just do your own research. She is speaking for herself and her opinion. I highly suggest do your own research. Fragrances and scents are beautiful because it helps us go back in time.

    Does that advice apply to designer fragrances that often only contain essential oils?

  • @cms3000

    @cms3000

    2 ай бұрын

    Yes, and designer fragrances contain synthetic notes, very few fragrances contain natural essential oils, even niche fragrances contain synthetic notes and very few niche fragrances contain natural essential oils. Low cost fragrances and designer fragrances contain the same cheap products but the difference is the price because the brand, marketing, etc. But even niche fragrances contain toxic chemicals like BHT, and antioxidant for preserve the fragrance.

    She didn't much address mens and womens fragrances, and quite frankly "just wear essential oils" is a lame offering as a substitute for cologne or perfume. Straight essential oils have no longevity on the skin. I wore them for years off an on and they just don't project like an EDT, or EDP

  • @james555c

    Your right in that EO's don't have a long odor life this is because they're obtained through distillation which on extracts the most volatile particles, resinoids in this matter tend to last alot longer and so do woods. Best not using undilluted eos on your skin too they contain up to 100 to 250 aroma chemicals some of which contain allergens and can cause burning allergic reactions even over time and so on. IFRA regulations are best followed when using eos in a final product, you can check out their restrictions and bans for safe use. Best using a fixative along side an EO but it still won't last that long without any other synthetic here are a few fixatives you could get fixateur 505e, herculen D or any old Musks along as it's not a nitro musk haha
