Just towed our 2000 lb off-road trailer to our Reno Meet Up meeting today. The FOO had no problem towing. The only issued I noticed (and our mobile tech at our meet up took notes to report it back to the engineers) was that when we were parked and the car turned off the rear lights on the trailer had a strobe light affect going on. It only stopped when we unplugged the 7 pin connector from the car. I am afraid that this could drain the car’s battery if I leave the 7 pin connector plugged in while out camping. Hopefully Fisker can look into this and see if this issue is just with my car or a bigger issue.

Did you try locking the car and see if it went off after a few minutes?

Don’t know if I had the car locked or just off. Will need to try that.

hmm.....must be some different regulations in the states.i am in austria and the tow bar on my sport just slides out by pressing a button in the trunk where the power outlets are.the plug is a 13 pin and built in the tow bar on the side wich is very convienient,no cover just a hole.......

Indeed Europe/UK have a different set of towing safety philosophies. In the US they have to have 10-12% of the trailer weight on the hitch, whereas in Europe/UK it’s only 5-7%. Hence the difference in towing equipment. I believe Fisker have also messed up their gross combination weights as a result of merging US/EU regs. If you look at your European VIN plate in the door frame, the difference between the GVW and GCW is NOT 1820kg as it should be. As a result, if you want to tow the max capacity of 1820kg/4000lb you can only legally do so with only the driver and ~50kg of additional payload in the vehicle. In the US they don’t appear to stamp the GCW anywhere on the car so they may get away with towing with max payload in the car and max towing capacity simultaneously. I have a ticket open with Fisker and they have their Engineering dept looking into it. Problem I have is I bought the car specifically to tow my 1800kg caravan, ideally with the family on board the car - so I’m unable to use it for my primary purpose, much as I love the car!

Any idea if the trailer needs a built-in connected braking system in order to tow ~4,000 lbs? I have a boat with trailer that will come close to max towing capacity. However, I believe I saw on another video that the trailer required a brake system for the Ocean One. I just couldn't find that particular info about trailer braking on Fisker's website. Also, do you know how deep the Ocean One can go in water? When I use my friend's Ford Ranger at the boat launch, the rear end of the truck sees a good 1.5' - 2' of lake water in order to launch / retrieve the boat from the trailer.
