Remake/update of my old hallway scene from the Tower of Terror ride in Walt Disney World. Part of my project to recreate the Tower of Terror in Unreal Engine 4 in Virtual Reality. I'm revisiting older parts like this and the 5th dimension scene/boiler room and redoing them with better quality.
This hallway scene is now done for the most part, I'll continue to tweak it as I work on finishing the rest of the ride.

    Wow, you even got that light the window casts on the floor, including the fact that it doesn't actually sync with the lightning.

    I've spent too much time scrubbing through ride videos and references x) (also the little electricity ghost dots that hang around for a split second after the ghosts disappear, I never noticed that until recreating the effect) Slightly updated hallway, and now 5th dimension video here, just in case! kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZoGnzMibgdapj6Q.html

    Hey, thanks for the interest. Once finished I may release a public build of the game, but I will not be releasing the source models/textures publicly.

    Absolutely outstanding work! How did you get the pepper's ghost effect to work?

    Thanks! On the actual ride the pepper's ghost effect is basically used as a transparent projection screen. Off to the side is a flat video protected onto a black surface. In my case I can achieve that artificially, so there is just a transparent plane in-game with my recreated ghost video played on it. Just like the actual video where the actors were recorded at different heights, the characters in my video have different heights/scales to give the illusion that they're standing further back in the hallway. It should be far enough away that you lose some depth perception so it won't be noticable that it's a plane in VR, if it is I can curve the plane to make the characters a bit offset. You can see the black projection surface mentioned around 2:20. You can also see that all the walls are actually transparent scrim, hidden when lit from the front, but transparent when from behind for the fiber-optic stars: vimeo.com/334120420

    Basically, it'll be an interactive experience of the ride. It's running realtime in UE4, and people will be able to walk through the queue and ride the attraction in VR or flat screen.
