I simply loved the demonstrations. I loved how you demonstrated the turning of the hoop as to how you wanted the letters to show. I am new to this and have ruined some projects for not setting the material in the right direction. I hope to see some more of your videos. Thank you so much.

It would have been even better had we seen the entire process. I wish we could have seen how the "L" lined up in it's space at the bottom of the heart. And how the silk was filled in on the outlines of each letter.

You should be able to embroider on towels with your embroidery machine. Your limitation is your sewing area which is 4" x 4", so you need to pick designs which are made for 4x4. I'd recommend trying some of your built in designs first and sew them out first on a "test" fabric or towel. I have not tried out the Scan and Cut yet. I personally haven't found a need to buy something like that but I'm sure it's really useful for some people. What types of machine embroidery videos would you like to see?

Thank you for a great demo of how to embroider a towel! Using the right stabilizers are important, and there are so many different opinions out there, which can be quite confusing to newbies like me. Quick question: does the spray adhesive affect the WSS? I find the tiniest bit of water near my hoop when I use the Wet N Gone (fibrous WSS) on the bottom melts it right away. Will it do that to the topper? I've just subscribed to your channel...looking forward to watching more of your videos.

Thanks for the praise and question. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I see I said about using the spray adhesive to hold down the WSS but I don't remember if I've actually done it. I would not spray it directly on the WSS though because it does dissolve very quickly. I will usually just hold the WSS in place slightly until it starts stitching. Damn cool. So I could take images like my fractals and print them to fabric from my inkjet printer. Then use those custom printed fabrics for each letter in a given pattern.

Yes, you could applique printed fabrics onto a towel or other fabric and then sew around the edge. We have a video on Raw Edge Applique here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/n4Btt6WMZaS_h5s.html. This would work for what you describe.

Ron - The embroidery stitch is determined by the pattern. I usually purchase patterns online and they stitch out the design. So, I don't really know what types of stitches they do. I do know that the back and forth stitch that goes around most applique is called the satin stitch. Happy Stitching!

So would it help to put shape flex on the back of the fabric before appliquing it?

Some sort of stabilizer needs to be used before any machine embroidery. Shapeflex may work, but I have not tried that. I usually use stabilizers like Sulky brand which is made for machine embroidery. Hope this helps. Happy Stitching!

Oh, yes... these Embroidery machines can be super expensive and the new Brother models are like $16,000. I got mine as a trade in, so it was a good deal at the time. You can look for trade ins at your machine dealer. We also have a link to Embroidery machines available on Amazon at the bottom of this post: www.needlepointers.com/main/youtubecontent.aspx?KZreadPageID=149. The ones on Amazon will not have as many features or as large hoop sizes. I find that when I embroider on a towel, I like to use the 5x7 size hoop/designs. So, if you would like a beginner machine, look at the machines with 5x7 or larger hoops. If you get into machine embroidery, you may find you will quickly outgrow the lower end machines. But, they are a way to try it out and see if you like it! Happy Sewing!

BIG QUESTION... First of all, thank you so much. I was having issues with the satin stitch and the major issue that still exists is the rear stabilizer backing. How can you get it to be not there when finished? I hate seeing the rear tear away stabilizer. If it's just a towel I am giving away for a gift to be a "show towel" then there is no issue that much. Just clean it up to the edges and the towel is not used. It's the ones you give away that become "everyday towels" those ones will show the rear stabilizer and it just looks tacky. Can you help with a solution for this? Thank you again for this awesome video. So grateful and very easy to follow. Keep on stitchin!!!

Hi Johnny. Thank you for your interest in our video and your questions. There isn't really any way around the stabilizer except to carefully remove any that is between the stitched sections. You cannot use wash away on the back as it will wash away and no longer stabilize the stitches. You can just make it look as neat as possible. Even purchased towels from the store have the stabilizer showing on the back. @@Needlepointers Once again, thank you. I really don't look at the back of towels and I think I will use a color that works best with what I'm doing. I also never realized that removing the stabilizer would jeopardize the integrity of the finished work. You really never really think about it I guess. I'm doing some monogramming on some towels as a gift and just thought it would look tacky to show the rear stabilizer. I learn more each day and I have the Brother PE800 embroidery machine. What an amazing tool. I was also told to use "Wooly Nylon Thread" for this type application. Is this have any significance for enhancement on lettering of low terry cloth, medium plush towels or a waste of money? What would you recommend? Typical terri cloth hand towels. Little sayings like "Wash Your Hands" my grandchildren's names and the like. Also what stitching would you suggest? Picking you mind and expertise. Hope this is ok to ask as I don't know how else to learn then to ask and even though I'm a guy, I can ask and actually follow what you suggest. Please help... thank you, Johnny

@@bigpop-popsmurf People say that certain brand threads work better in their machines (less breakage). My machine seems to be good with most brands but I generally purchase either Sulky or Mettler brands. You can cut/tear off the extra around the stitching, but you need the stabilizer under the stitches to keep supporting it through the washes. I have not heard of the Wooly brand thread. For Monogramming and sayings, check out the site www.designsbyjuju.com they have a lot of fun sayings and cute designs to put on towels. If you catch them during a sale you can get like 10 design sets for $1 each. Happy Embroidering!

Hello! Great video. I am trying to decide what machine I want to purchase. I am having a hard time because I have 0 experience when it comes to embroidery. Maybe you can try to help me? I need it to sew and I was looking at these two machines brother se600 and the brother PE900. Which one would you recommend? Is it worth going up to the PE900? Will it embroider better? Will it be more user friendly?

Christine, I don't like to recommend machines as everyone needs different things in a machine. I recommend you visit a local sewing machine dealer and see what they recommend and maybe they would have a trade in for a good deal. I purchased mine as a trade-in. The one thing I will say is that it's recommended that you purchase a machine with the biggest hoop size you can afford. The SE600 looks like it's a 4x4 sewing area which is the smallest size. You will be very limited on the designs you can embroider. 5x7 is probably the minimum size I would recommend. You cannot upgrade to a bigger hoop on these machines. You have to buy a machine that can handle the bigger hoop. My machine has a 7x14 hoop and I've found I can stitch almost any design. how do u get rid of the stabilizer on the back?

Hi Mary! Thanks for your question. If you are using wash away stabilizer, it will be removed when you wash the item. For tear-away stabilizer, carefully tear away the extra stabilizer from around the stitching. Larger pieces that do not have stitches can also be removed. For cut-away stabilizer, it's meant to stay so you would carefully cut away around the outside of the stitch area. Happy Stitching!

For a washcloth, it's probably not big enough to hoop. So, you would hoop tear-away stabilizer in the hoop. Then use spray temporary fabric adhesive to hold the washcloth down in place while stitching. Happy Embroidering!

I understand helping someone out, but there is a way to do it without being a total ass hole, like for example; throwing in that its just an American way, because we all can't be great like the person that's degrading someone else just by judging from where they are from-because it only happens in America-where I might add is where everyone wants to come and live at legally and illegally! Might we all start pointing at your faults and judge it because of where you live, like you being an ass hole is because you are from where ever your from?
