Towards the dawn: mural in Hrodna / Насустрач світанку: мурал у Гродна

Full of symbolism, the mural “Towards the dawn” was created by Mutus and Sergey Rysakov in Grodno for the project "Traditions for the Future".
The Neman River connected Belarusian lands with the ports of the Baltic Sea. And in antiquity, one of the branches of the “amber road” passed here, along which the Baltic amber fell into the cities of the Mediterranean. Amber was considered frozen “pieces of the sun”. Amber products were amulets, symbols of richness.
A huge piece of amber is in the center of the composition of the Grodno mural. In the depths of the "solar stone" the elements of the mechanism of the oldest operating chimes in Europe froze. The famous city clock on the tower of the Cathedral of St. Francis Xavier has long been one of the symbols of the city. In the overflows of amber, ancient Roman coins froze as if on the waves of the Neman. Such coins were found in treasures in the Grodno region, it's proof of integration into global processes. It is difficult not to notice in amber a unique monument of ancient Orthodox architecture of the 12th century - the Church of Sts. Boris and Gleb.
A magical piece of amber with the historical artifacts floats in the air above the hand of a modern cyclist who rides along the highway towards dawn.
The mural “Towards the dawn” (“Nasustrach svitanku”) was made with premium paint "Tintoll" of Belarusian production.
Address: Grodno, Leninsky Kamsamol Boulevard, 29
