I can relate. Being lonely does not mean you have no one around you. Being lonely means you have no one around you that you are CONNECTED to on an emotional level, and yes, that can include family members and even friends. Just because it is EXPECTED that family members and friends are people that we are automatically emotionally connected to, that is not always the case.

If you hear the original song, it's about she is partying like crazy, and with strange "habits" to not think about the person she likes... So yeah she is sad, that's the point

Years ago I was going through a very bad breakup and I was feeling hearth broken, derailed and on the brink of clinical depression. this video and the song mirrored exactly how I felt, in need of numbing the pain in any possible way and at times I would watch it over and over, so that I could process what I was going through and helped me avoid extreme behaviours as it reminded me that using substances or casual encounters would just make me feel more lonely. When I see it now I feel for that sad young woman that I was as it reminds me of how miserable I could get and how the way of dealing with the pain of the girl in the video is so relatable

This video does a fantastic job of telling the story of drinking/partying. The fun of it, the hangovers the next morning, some sadness at times, the introspection, more fun, indulging too much, the zaniness, a little of all of it. Plus, it's a pretty neat tune, as well. 👍

This song is really sad. My boyfriend/best friend died tragically 20 years ago and I spent years after in a stupor. I was depressed, suicidal, and using drugs and alcohol regularly. I remember my level of sadness and I didn't care about anything other than not feeling the pain I was experiencing. It's been many years since (I'm nearly 40 now) and I can certainly still recognize what this song is saying. But the honest truth is there's a certain amount of value that we all attach to these things, and that wasn't the right guy for you, or you weren't right for him at that time. This was never a party song, at least not a happy one.

this song has lots of sentimental value, even the video reminds me of a particular time in my life. Being at my lowest drinking and partying every weekend, feeling like shit the day after waking up and doing it all over again. Still had amazing times and it has turned me into the person I am today and I'm happy for that. This song will forever be on repeat for me. Big up Tove Lo , Stay High people !

Im a male and i find this song very moving im still asking myself why, plus i didnt start of liking this song to boot..

everyone talkin about how this song takes them back, and I genuinely cannot overemphasize on the nostalgia factor more than the actual message of the song and lyrics. Really makes you think, the older generation spends so much time shitting on the younger generation as if a majority of these boomers and gen x telling their children negative things as a child wouldn’t result in exactly what’s happening in this music video. We’re all lost souls trying to figure out a way to cope with the fact that seems like 95% of us feel lonely, unwanted, useless, and not deserving of love. Next thing you know, you wake up somewhere you don’t know, you’re sober, head is spinning, and the ultimate bomb is that you’re back in reality, and your mental health starts crashing down until you’re high or drunk again. I genuinely hope y’all have better days, and get over what it is you’re trying to get over.

If you're a sober person nobody gives a shit, if you don't condone drug use nobody cares. This video clip helped me to quit drinking.

Not a very deep song but it keeps it real. The party lifestyle isn't cool or fun, it's usually just bad attempts at self medication. I don't think people understand what the song is actually saying.

I relate to the pain of loss after losing my wife in a car accident last year. Staying high all the time may numb the pain for a while but eventually won't keep her off my mind. In a better place now but I can relate so much to what this says.
