I love the vibe of this video. I go to UCF and I will say it’s a wonderful place to be. It has its own community, a bubble reserved for learning and exploring. And a football team that just made it into the Power 5! I truly am proud of our school and it’s accomplishments. We were started back in the 60’s to supply NASA with talent. A tradition that last to this day (20% of their staff comes from our school). We have a rich, vibrant, community. My favorite time to explore campus is spring/summer because the landscaping is incredible. An hour on campus wasn’t enough to explore all the hidden gems dotted throughout (Like the walkway between the health buildings) or the Nike Communities Layout. We also have a downtown campus that is completely vertical for that big city vibe and an award winning medical campus at Lake Nona. I love the experiences I’ve been lucky to be apart of. I am proud to be a Knight.

Went to UM undergrad and FIU grad school. Wife went UM and FSU. I got into UF with a full scholarship, had an apartment lease near the hospital and was weeks away from starting at the engineering school when hurricane Andrew blew up south Florida and wrecked all my plans. Needless to say, I’m intimately familiar with these 4 Florida universities. In my opinion, UM has the nicest looking campus by far. It’s smaller than the others but every inch is a tropical paradise. It’s also in the heart of Coral Gables which is where the local millionaires live. Most convenient is definitely FIU. It’s huge and feels like its own city. Best school spirit/tailgates is FSU, hands down. It’s also filled with females, the ratio to guys is super high. UF had a basic campus, a little nicer than FSU but lacking school spirit. UF is a better school academically so the student body seems more serious. FSU students are more middle class party types. FIU has a more local commuter school vibe, but is growing like crazy. FIU females were the prettiest in my opinion. UM is definitely a rich kid school. It’s the most expensive and a huge difference from the other non private schools in terms of how you are treated as a student. Bunch of friends went to UCF and loved it. I visited a few times but wasn’t super impressed. This was back in the 80’s and 90’s so a lot has changed. Didn’t go to any of the other schools. Just like to add that I took a few courses at Miami Dade College and was very impressed with the size and quality of the campuses. One of the best JuCo I’ve ever seen.
this is the realest video ive found while looking for colleges, and just general information. florida has so many great schools and its so hard to pick which one i want tp spend 4 years at.
UCF 2011 grad here who makes it back all the time for football games. Props on making it to all the campuses! As someone who has spent quite a bit of time at all of the below campuses, here’s my totally biased opinions for those looking to make the decision: For UCF - location is incredible as you have your own college town but it’s a 15 min drive from downtown Orlando which has a SUPER underrated nightlife and is the fastest growing city in the country. Many of my college friends have jobs and continue to live in and love Orlando. It was definitely a party school when I was there and I had a blast, that said even when I went it was getting difficult to get into and more difficult now so I wonder if that’s changing. The uni identity/culture is very strong and the school is absolutely massive so whatever you’re into you can find like minded individuals. People who want an intimate college experience can get lost in its size. Cocoa beach isn’t too far, I used to go for a morning surf sesh before class. I think the campus is pretty but to each their own. I studied engineering with a business minor btw, one was much more intense than the other. Take a guess…. FIU - I took a summer semester there, campus is comparable to UCF in terms of looks (more Miami/modern/tropical architecture) and also a big school. It definitely felt like a commuter school and lacked some identity. Art museum was cool. DEFINITELY NOT in the heart of Miami like you say, it’s pretty far out west of downtown esp considering that Miami traffic. FAU - nice but also commuter school vibe for the most part. Most people I know that went there didn’t live on/around campus. Plus Boca’s too sleepy for me but once again to each their own. BTW the football stadium is tiny (30k) and you can’t see the water unless you’re a VIP in the tower, video’s not accurate on that . They do have an on campus stadium and play in the American though so not hating on them, just bad description. UF - it’s the flagship school in the state, great academics if you can get in probably should go. My brother was at UCF when I was deciding so it’s not always as cut and dry as academics. Plus Gainesville is in the absolute middle of nowhere, country ass town… FSU - kind of like UF but replace the academics with partying. Tally, despite being the state capital, is even more so than Gainesville in the absolute middle of nowhere, country ass town. You are soooooo far from anything remotely resembling a city. Miami - unless your parents are multimillionaires or they’re offering you significant financial aide to make it comparable to a public school tuition, DO NOT bury yourself in debt to attend that school. ITS A QUARTER MILLION IN TUITION FOR 4 YEARS?!? Maybe for med school…. Private schools are a racket in any case when better academics can be had at 1/10th the cost at a public uni. Campus is in a fantastic location but that doesn’t even come close to justifying the price. Unless you’re going to Harvard/Stanford/ etc, don’t even consider the price of a private institution. USF - as a biased Knight, no… just no.

You are spot on about UM. FIU is, for the most part, a commuter school since it mainly serves locals, unlike Gainesville and Tallahassee, which exist to serve the universities that put them on the map and provide their economic sustenance.

USF is in a shady area. But, at the same time, the campus is awesome, there’s a bunch of natural areas right outside of campus, and a lot of cool places on campus if you like nature. Also, river walk, ybor, st.Pete, Clearwater and Sarasota are pretty close and have so many fun things to do for relatively cheap.
Thanks for the video. Currenty UCF student, Jayhawk & FHSU alum

I will definitely have to do a video about that for sure, that is a great idea! very briefly, I'd say UF is science heavy, FSU is liberal arts/law/business heavy, UCF is computer science and engineering, USF is anything medical, and FIU and FAU run the board with good programs!

UCF didn't accept me (I applied a bit late in the year for the term I wanted), so I went with FAU instead. And oh man am I glad I went with FAU over UCF - the campus is much prettier, everyone there is really friendly, the buildings are really modern (and they're still renovating the old buildings), I was able to get an on-campus job that I really enjoyed (only a 10-minute commute!), and everything that I could ever need is on campus. It may not have a ton of things to do directly on campus (their events calendar is a bit lacking) but given all the positives I'm really proud to be an Owl! 🦉

I go to FIU, its a big commuter school with many undergraduate students driving from their parents home. Not to say everyone does that, but it really seems like the local pick, because its very affordable. Im going to graduate with no debt. Edit: when I say commute, I dont mean commute 10 minutes from the local area. I mean many students throughout the larger south florida area commute, from west palm beach down to homestead. In engineering (my major), its not uncommon for financial aid to surpass expenses students have, so people get paid to attend in a manner. That's my situation. The campus is really nice, and the extracurriculars are great I want to point out for the high schoolers considering schools, grade schools will make you feel like your career is down to which prestigious college you go to. We have grads and current students working at just about any company you can imagine, and many grad students move on to top universities if they go that route. Its all about the effort you put in, dont feel like because one school has a better rated program than another that its the only option you have in order to "make it"
@ashtonherndon

How are the athletics and events? Do you get that school spirit vibe or is it kind of each to their own kinda thing? And is their a party life there?

@@sophias12480 as an engineering student, im on a smaller single building campus separated from the main campus, so I cant speak to most student's experiences. I dont think this is the right school if you really want the "college experience", but maybe someone will correct me

This guy has FIU and UM backwards. It is FIU that has the modern buildings. UM lags far behind in architecture, resources, size, and modernity.

UM is a football team with a school as Prussia was an army with a state. Their law and medical schools are really good, though.

Mid town and downtown are great for night time activities and then outside of Gainesville there are a ton of state parks that are absolutely beautiful. I dont go to UF as much as I would like to but when I am there, those are some fun things I like to do!

Why do you think FIU is better than UCF? I just want to know currently struggling to choose the uni
@Asher-xo3gd
Жыл бұрын
@@justme-kx9nk When strictly looking at campuses, I liked FIU more because it had more of a traditional campus feel. Has a ton of restaurants, a cool student union, and a very well kept campus. UCF, while it has some awesome facilities, is massive and feels like its own city within a city (Orlando). Some people really like those kind of campuses because of all the opportunities, subsections, and “city” feel, but I personally feel very lost within them. FIU has enough stuff around the campus to have places to go off campus, but the campus is also small and enclosed enough to have a distinct home. It is very opinion based, so I would just figure out what you want out of a campus and write out a list so you can tour with intention when you visit schools

@@Asher-xo3gd Thank you! I want to go to UCF but I am extremely socially anxious, I feel like it will be such a huge problem there but I am not going to base my choice only on that obviously. Thanks again !

I actually go to FSU so I'm a little biased when it comes to the two, but when you decide, make sure you consider the major you want, the lifestyle of the city, and just all the opportunities on campus to live the best experience you can. Once you answer those things, it should be a more clear answer :) Good luck and if you need anything I am happy to help!
