Tour three apartments with pools under $350 in Siem Reap, Cambodia! December 2022!

Let’s go apartment hunting in Siem Reap, Cambodia! These apartments are all within the $275 - $350 range and they all have pools. We viewed them in mid-December 2022, and it is very likely each of the apartment buildings featured will have availability into 2023. Thoughts on each of the three:
Apartment 1 in Wat Bo: Positives: very nice finish, size and location were good, lift was a plus, pool was amazingly clean, cafe downstairs is lovely and has air con, there is good security with a 24 hour guard and secure parking under the building. Negatives: balcony off the bedroom and not the living area, the location is central, but not overly close to places we like to go for dinner, road could be busy.
Apartment 2 near Navutu Dreams: Positives: Pool is huge, building has a lift, finish seems to be quite high standard, rural setting if that’s your thing. Negatives: not many people living there yet - has a slightly abandoned feel, is a bit further from the town centre than we wanted to be, rooms are very big, and that means big electricity bills if you run the air con.
Apartment 3 in Slor Kram: Positives: Price is very good for two bedrooms, ability to rent month to month gives flexibility, location is near the river and seems quiet. Negatives: No lift, crocodiles, older style, long term lease not possible.

@@user-ki1bj5rx4h hey there 😊 it depends where you’re from originally. If it gets really cold in your country then you won’t need anything warm here during winter. The winters here don’t drop below 25 degrees Celsius. I’d rather take waterproof clothing over warm/thick clothing because you are more likely to get wet then cold 🥶

Hey Guys welcome back, I can't see needing to pay any more than 150 for a decent place, also look into smart@home router which is virtually unlimited for 18 usd per month, no installation you put a sim in and plug it in, it has ethernet and wifi. They cap it at about 1.2megabytes per second but therte is lots of bandwidth there so while you are downloading something and it's maxed you can easily watch youtube without buffering and surf the net, yes it's capped but not limited. Samrt also gives you 2gb for your cell phone every month included with he deal. This thing works anywhere there is electric. I wish i would have known instead of using my cell phone as a hotspot which bloated the battery from excessive heat and i was limited at 80 gb max for 8 bucks a month. Best to you both. cheerios.

  • @ForRiel

Yes, $150 a month will surely be enough for something decent. That Smart@home sounds like a great deal. At the moment I am hot spotting a lot and it's chewing through my data. I'm spending about $12 a month on the Cellcard plan because the $6 plan is only lasting two weeks instead of four. Thanks so much for watching! 🏩🛵 🙏

Hi Claire and Jeremy. Thank you for the apartment tour. Can I ask please…will you be doing an apartment tour in the $50 - $200 range? Dave in Cambodia has been living in a $50 a month apartment recently, and my gated apartment on Concrete Drain Road off of Soksan was $100 a month when I was there. (They had a full time security guard at the building also) Coming back in 2023, and I don’t really want to spend more than $150 a month, not counting electric and water. $100 a month again would be preferable. I just can’t go as cheap as Dave. But I admire him for his ability to go that cheap at $50 a month. Take care, be safe. Maybe see you guys when I come back. Your Cambodia videos are awesome. When I first moved to Siem Reap in 2016 I payed $700/month for a large "western" style apartment. Very large pool, nice built in's and furniture. The building was full with few vacancies so I wasn't alone. I have since bought a home so I'm not renting any longer. I think it would be a good idea to do a video on apartments over $500/month so people can see that there are nice apartments here and not just those for people on a budget.

It's definitely an option, and would make a lot of sense for a single person. We like the separation of a living room and a bedroom as there are two of us and sometimes the extra space is nice. Also, having a kitchen and a washing machine is important to me. I think living in a hotel room would feel a little too temporary somehow. Having an apartment feels more permanent. I think that is also part of the attraction.

When I arrive in Siem Reap Cambodia I want to get the visa on arrival if possible and then get the 1 year retirement visa. Is all this possible for me in 2024 as I am not sure now? I don't want the tourist visa as I want to stay for a long time in Cambodia. Thank you guys for any assistance in information you can give me and I am an Australian citizen as well!😀

I still think these are all too much for cambodia. I'd like to see smaller apts with no roosters. An agent is good. If you go home hunting on your own via tuktuk, make sure you tell the owner/manager the tuk was just driving you around and did not recommend the place. The driver will say in khmer he recommended it and want a commission every month. Good luck negotiating the price down then.
