Tour the USS Constitution. The World's Oldest Ship Still Afloat.

Ойын-сауық

I went to Charlestown, Massachusetts (Right next to Boston) to visit the USS Constitution. It is said to be the world's oldest ship still afloat by Wikipedia. You will get to go along with me and visit this historic ship. Enjoy.

Qdc, very nice video. I was in Boston in the early 80's. Alot of thing's to do and see. Ironside or Constitution is a symbol of our strength. Enjoy your time in Boston. If your home, thank God for your safe return. 🙏 Godspeed my friend. My wife loves your cat.

Thanks Mike. From I understand, Boston has changed a lot since the 1980's. I was staying in a neighborhood called South Boston and there are lots of students living there. Yes, I did enjoy my stay in Boston and in Cambridge. I am back home now and Boston is a nice city. Please tell your wife that I appreciate her nice words about my cat, Buster. Take care.

Fell in love with these older ships 🚢 when I first watched 👀 Master & Commander Movie. There is nothing like these old ships they have a style, and a grace that touches your spirit above and beyond. Man, I wish there were a whole lot more of these beautiful giant masterpieces. Because there is nothing like them & never will be. This is a time ⏲️ that needs to be kept around forever. & not just as models but actual live ships to be sailed on. This history is too remarkable to be kept in a book 📖 or up on a shelf as a model ( which there is nothing wrong with models because I myself now collect models of these magnificent ships). I am now traveling around to learn more about the time ⏲️ life, fashion of clothes & just the whole total history of this incredible era. But still nothing would be better than the actual live ship that we can walk upon & sail upon. I'm also getting away from this hi-tech world ( not too far away from the hi- tech). Because this hi-tech world 🌎 is making us forget all about these wonderfully magical times ⏲️ . Which we need to keep for are present and future.

Thanks for the tour.. :) :) Interesting about the 'miscast' guns, it adds a bit of curiosity to the ship.. :) Glad you had a great time in Boston and got to see what you wanted to see... I'm sure the model of the USS Constitution will be great fun to build as well, especially now you have seen the original.. :) :)

Great video, are you still visiting the Boston area? Its worth a drive south to Cape Cod Plymouth Rock and also Newport Rhode Island to see the Mansions. I was lucky enough to stay at that Hilton Hotel across the parking lot from the Constitution, I can see it in your video. I was able to tour the Constitution one early Saturday morning with hardly anyone there, also I got to visit with one of the model ship builders who had a space inside while he was building ships. Wonder if that is still there? I love Boston its one of my favorite places besides San Diego.

I'm back home in California now. I should visit other parts of Massachusetts like Cape Cod. I'm sure it's just as fun. Thanks for the advice. Funny you asked that question regarding the model ship builders. A friend of mine ask that very same question. I went to the USS Constitution museum late in the afternoon about 7pm and I didn't see anybody there doing demonstrations building model ships. I guess they still do that but it was late in the day and they probably went home for the day.

Great video QDC! Here is another note about that ship... 95 percent of it is NOT original. When I toured it back in 2017, the U.S. Navy Shipmate who was giving our tour said the only thing that is original is the Keel found deep in the bottom of the ship. But, like the wing spar of an airplane, the Keel is what Makes the ship... the ship that it is. By the way, when you make that model... don't do the generic rigging.. take the time and do ALL the original rigging using tan and black thread. It will make for a stunning and accurate model!

Thank you for this video. The Constitution must be big. I remember visit a Danish Frigate from the 18th Century in the early ´80s, but it wasn´t so big like the Constitution. Side note: As you went to the bow, there was a young girl, wearing a Militaryjacket of the German Army. I was surprise to see this kind of Jacket in the US on a civilian girl. Greets from Germany!

Great! You’re going to build a sailing ship. I’m working on the Black Pearl right now and have some old Dutch and French sailing ships in my stash to build. I must say, as it is my first sailing ship, it takes a lot of patience to do the rigging, but it’s very satisfying to see the model take shape. Thanks for this video!
