Tour The HIghlights of Ancient Ohrid, Macedonia: Part 1

www.TravelsWith...
It took hours to thoroughly tour Ohrid and instead of one l--o--n--g documentary which could possibly put all of us to sleep, I uploaded shorter bits and bytes. Today's group tour began with a visit to portions of the city walls, Tsar Samuel's Fortress and Roman amphitheater for sensational panoramic views.
I did a fairly concise narrations in this video with details about all the above but here is another interesting fact. Ohrid was the capital of a Slavic Empire ruled by Tsar/Czar Samuel (Samuil) from 976-997 BC after a defeating Byzantine Emperor Basil II. Basil II won another battle against the king in 1014, and in retaliation blinded 4,000 prisoners; leaving one man from every 100 with sight in one eye who would be able to lead the others home. Both Goran, the local guide and different articles written about the old Roman Theater said that they did take place. I think the theater, still partially buried under houses was originally built pre-Roman and during Roman times, it did take place. But since I didn't attend any performances... who am I to know the truth?

This Hellenistic city was built by the Greeks, over 2000 years ago. Thanks so much for your time to view and comment. Hope all is well with you and yours. Regards, Sheila 😍

Your facts are incorrect and I hope your paid tour guide did not say that gladiator fights and executions of Christians took place in an amphitheater. Totally wrong. That locale was in a Coliseum. Think of an amphitheater as Broadway...Coliseum as a gory stadium
