I moved 9 states away from NY to to the south in the country. I totally understand the work that has to be done.I had to learn how to grow food all over again in this different environment. It takes time to get stuff done.

It definitely does! It took me five years to get my other place set up. I'm hoping things will go a little quicker here since I know a little better what I'm doing now, but we shall see. 10 months in, I'm a lot closer than I was after 10 months at our last place, that's for certain!
Now I want to be an Ann of All Trades! Cool to see your setup.
Looks real good. Your positive attitude will make all the difference.------------------learned to say ya'll yet?
I like your comments about not waiting for the perfect time or shop to get started. Good things happen when we just do it!

Welcome to the mid-Tenn! I was born and raised in Hermitage and dying to get back home. Watching you, April, and others within the maker community turn your dreams into a reality, has given me a lot of hope and inspiration. I will be leaving the corporate world soon to pursue my dreams and hopefully all goes well. If not, well at least I tried while I had the chance. Hope you all adjust well and the traffic doesn’t drive you to insanity.
what a great farm tour video! we are also promoting homesteading and homeschooling ^_^

That is awesome!
This reminds me a lot when I was growing up. My grandfather had a farm with a big barn. And he took care of 4 or 5 big fields to grow crops. He raised and slaughtered hogs, raised chickens, horses, and goats. I remember in the mid 60s riding in the back of his Dodge truck, going door to door to all the neighbors to collect "slop", which was food scrapings to feed his hogs. And in his fields he grew, corn, potatoes, pumpkins, beans, etc. You name it, my grandfather grew. He also was owner of a grocery store, he was a carpenter, a land surveyor, and he worked for the railroad. This was many moons ago, like in the 50s and 60s. My grandfather passed away in 1969 at the age of 78. This was on my dad's side and my dad came from a family of 16 kids. And in the community I now live in, my grandfather used to own all of the property. He sold it all off and now there are like 75 or so houses here and my grandfather built about 20 of the houses.
Your so positive. Seems to be your passion. New place looks good.

Great tour Anne, you and Adam made a courageous move to uproot and start all over, looks like things are getting organized and you're well on your way to making this place uniquely you, just as you did in Seattle, congratulations AGAIN, best wishes, AGAIN, exciting, exhilarating days ahead
Nice farm and animals
Your living the dream! And a woman after my own heart. I was a woodworker for 30 years and a machinist before that for 7 years. Now I want to farm but on a much smaller scale than you're doing. You are inspiring! 💘 the video's.

Thank you so much! Oh man you've got all the skills I'm trying to collect then! Yes farming on a scale this large is a bit of a bullheaded endeavor but I'm excited to find the right partners here to do it with so I don't get overloaded trying to manage it all on my own!
Maybe you could show us a plot plan for your land and show where everything is now and where you plan to build your shop and garden area and whatever else you have in your future plans'

I have just come across your channel and i think i am really going to enjoy checking out your videos. I am a farmer here in Ireland but i like doing all kinds of DIY projects. My family going back generations were blacksmiths, my grandfathers my uncles and cousins all worked as blacksmiths and farriers although i prefer working with wood. Even so, i could weld by the time i was 9 yrs old and have worked as a welder/fabricator on and off for the last 30 years. Don't do much now though, except for carrying out repairs here on the farm :)

Knowing you have a blank slate to work with is amazing. I get excited just looking at the property and the current structures not to mention the potential for growth. I can almost smell the animals, the wood and the woodstove now. Enjoy the bounty that Tennessee has to offer its quite a beautiful place. There are a lot of old barns to reclaim wood from also hint, hint. Love to see that repurposed bit of history. God bless.

Not sure how close Kingsport TN is to you but that is where another youtuber I watch is from. He runs a portable Wood-Mizer sawmill and kiln full time. You may be able to get same very, very nice slabs from him for making your work benches for your shop. His channel is Out of the Woods.

As a woodworker you will love the hardwoods that grow naturally in that part of Tennessee. Black Locust, Black Walnut, and hickory all grow wild in that area. You probably have a ton on your property that you could selectively harvest.

Looks like great adventures ahead. I'd like to see what's in those panels in the blacksmithing shop. They reveal potential. (pun intended) I bought my house because it had 2 200amp panels with one almost empty. I've almost filled it up with a few additions to the house (12 breakers just for my wife's dream kitchen). Someday a windmill & solar panels might be a nice addition to your farm. Wouldn't do it all, but would help with the electrical load & during blackouts. I'm rigging a small windmill to assist/maintain my air compressor which is connected to multiple outlets around my house & property.

Love the video and it's just what I needed! I'm a single mom who started a hobby farm in GA a few years ago from scratch and am just feeling overwhelmed with upkeep and projects and sometimes I feel like I don't know what I'm doing and can feel alone in it so it's so nice to see someone else out there figuring it out as well! Keep your chin up! Farming alone can be really tough, and bad days seem to really compound. I ran the farm in Seattle alone and it was amazing how at times something I loved so much could make me so dang miserable, but doing my best to stay positive and to give myself grace when things didn't go as planned really helped. Some days just sucked and that's ok too. I find myself singing "the sun will come out tomorrow" an awful lot. And guess what? It usually does.
