Tour of Some of the Miniature Railroad Crossings at the Ohio Station Outlets - Lodi, OH

I've always wanted to check this place out, and I finally had the chance to today. This is the Ohio Station Outlets outlet mall in Lodi, OH. It was built in 1996 and in 2008 the miniature train was added as transportation and a fun theme for the mall. Sadly around 2018 the mall went into a serious decline and now has less than 15 stores and only 2 restaurants, and as far as I could tell, the train doesn't run anymore. Here is a video of some of the MANY, many railroad crossings on the line. Enjoy!

I sure wish I could buy this and start back running trains on it again. This is a sad sight, all this is going to waste

Flooded rails, leaky canopies, doggie pooh on the sidewalks, rusting signals, abandoned turntable. What a sad end to such an incredible investment. So large it really would have needed full-time maintenance people when it was running.

Unfortunately, 5 months ago, the tracks were ripped out. The signals are most definitely not standing anymore. You can see it from street view on I-71.

That would be so cool if someone was nice enough and had the money to restore it bring it back to life that would be awesome that is super cool is for a mall to have

Sad thing is this is pretty much inevitable for even the most successful shopping malls...

Man, what a great mall that must have been in it's heyday! Reminds me of the train they used to run at the Brookfield zoo in Illinois. Sadly that was removed in the late 80's or early 90's I believe.

I used to shop there occasionally (I live in nearby Wooster). There was once a hobby shop there that sold model trains (mostly HO-scale and G-scale). I bought an HO-scale Erie Lackawanna SD45 diesel locomotive (brand-new, still in the box) for $75 a few years ago. The last time I went up there in 2019 (before the pandemic), the store was no longer there.

I had lots of good memories from this place. When I went there as a toddler, the events I would participate in. Every year my mom would take me here to get shoes for school and afterwards we would ride the train all around the mall. I remember a model railroad shop being here. It is so sad to see this place out of business.

Unfortunately they moved the rail track completely. :( Part of the reason is due to covid and I'm guessing the lack of funds. But I had many great memories there! Thanks for the video man!
