Tour of Paul Washer's Library

Paul Washer took some time to show you around his library in his office. Many people have asked and we are glad to do it! This was originally shot live and on Instagram on 01.05.2021

    I think one of the primary reasons we see such richness in the writings of these men & women who lived hundreds of years ago is that they had fewer distractions than we have today. @Preacher of Righteousness I don’t understand what (ignorance) you’re referring to? The more you compare yourself to Christ and the holiness of God the more humble you become. The law presents to us guilt, the cross represents Gods justice and love, which when believed produces gratitude. The more you look at/aim to Christ the more you conform to that image. The only ignorance I’ve heard so far is your comments which are not edifying in the least.

    I wish that years ago, someone had said to me that part about books being less important than The Book. I was a teenager set ablaze with a passion for apologetics and a tremendous amount of pride because of it. I didn’t think I had need for the Bible because I thought I already knew what all it had to say. I wanted to read commentaries and apologetics. It was the simple, hard-hitting gospel of Christ that made me finally realize my own insignificance and hubris. Now, I’m in my early 20’s and I’m constantly realizing how little of the Bible I’ve actually read and even less that I understand. The mind of God is enough to make an academic into a complete moron. You’ve been pivotal in my sanctification, Paul Washer. I thank God for teachers like you.

    Most people in the comments condemning Washer for the majesty of his library and theological knowledge of the early protestant reformers never watched the full video to understand the context. You engage in your passions of impatience to realize that he stressed on the importance of spiritual revelation of primarily and mainly scripture. He emphasized that its better to memorize scripture than to understand that knowledge.

So encouraging as it seems if we mention the goal of holiness we are accused of being prideful when it is actually quite the opposite. Also grateful for what you said about Mueller and how he didn't manipulate people but relied on The Father to provide what was needed and was blessed. Are their lives consumed by so much hate for Mr. Washer and others that they live to insult, spread more hate, bully, harass others? Many of them have their own videos they upload, but they turn off their comments so no one can comment, isn't that special? They also don't use their own names, like Mr. Washer and others..... Can definitely tell by their fruits who they truly belong too. All we can do is keep praying for them.

  • @cole141000

    @cole141000

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@Karends5858 I started out reading the Bible by itself, beginning by just reading and listening through the YouVersion app all the parts that I was familiar with cause it's overwhelming at first. That really made it enjoyable and fruitful. But eventually got to read it all the way through and the books I found to be most helpful to start when I went to books outside of the Bible were those that simply taught who God was and others that taught how to live for him. Also biographies are really helpful and encouraging, to see other people just like us grow, learn and have the same weaknesses we do. Heartcry has a recommended reading list that I'll link below. heartcrymissionary.com/recommended-reading-list/ Pick out a book from each of these 5 sections to start with, I think they are the best place to start. 1) Study Bible or you can find for yourself what is called a 'Bible Handbook.' it offers some help reading the Bible and a little background along the way while still letting the Bible speak for itself. 2) Attributes of God. This is simply the knowledge of who God is. 3) The section Christian living, specifically under the headings 'prayer' and 'sanctification' 4) The section 'woman and wives.' I've personally been so very helped by the mens section teaching what it means to be the man or woman of God that he has called us to be by his own design and for his glory. It really covers the basics on what it means to live for God, I use those things I've learned every single day. 5) Christian Biographies. 2 favorites are George Mueller's and Pilgrims Progress (even though it is a fictional biography). My soon-to-be wife has really benefited from another book that is kind of like Pilgrims Progress but it's more realistic and specifically from a woman's perspective called 'Stepping Heavenward.' And also the biography of Amy Carmichael has had a really positive impact on her. But all of them in the list are valuable, there are people from all paths of life. But that's where I'd start if I did it all over again. Begin and end in prayer, having confidence that God will guide you with picking any of these books. Ultimately that really motivates us that our paths are being established by God and that we can trust we aren't wasting our time because we've committed everything to him. (Proverbs 3:5-6) Hope this helps !

    Thank you Pastor Washer. I love you sir. I’m Very grateful for your obedience and sacrifice. May the Lord continue to use you in a mighty way. I just preached on this past Weekend and some things that you said in messages that you preached years ago were used in my message to see God glorified and His people edified as well. You are a gift of God to the body of Christ and I’m eternally grateful for you. Again, thank you pastor!

    Thank you bro. Paul for all your books. Read them and teach us. Living in this muslim Country we don't have Christian books. But I thank God that we have the freedom to go to Church everyday and connect with our Creator. It's very important to have closer relationship with God. How I wish I'm near to you and read with you. Glory to God.

    Seriously, being bi-vocational, study time is a bit different , a little less study and a whole lot of focus during the week on the go of the things studied. Like how you love Calvin as a primer, I agree but also John Mcarthur new testament commentaries cover a immense amount of knowledge, in Spurgeon's Treasury of the Bible I find more often useful than his encyclopedias. Honorable mention would be anything F.B. Myer, W.A. Crisswell, and John R. Rice to add spice, but the Holy Spirit is amazing how we overload ourselves with study and get behind the pulpit in what the Spirit speaks and how much He doesn't use of what we cram into our minds as if He rewards us for our study.

    God indeed answers prayers. Last week while I was wrapping up reading The Pursuit of God by AW Tozer, I said a prayer. I asked God to direct me on books to buy for the year (tired of buying books blindly, which turns to regret a lot of times). Now, a week later I get more than I bargained for🤣 I'm hitting the closest bookshop asap. Please I need Paul Washer's books, we don't seem to have them in Nigeria (someone should please help a daughter of Zion)🥺
