You own a $450,000.00 catamaran and love what your doing. Don't stop, trust me there are owners of this catamaran that are new and wish they had the drive and friends you do. Keep going Tom Sawyer. Hell I would paint a fence for you for the adventure. A+
Aircraft composite structures always use a taper out sanding technique where new layers of glass overlap previous layers about 1/2 inch to re-enforce all the layers of glass. Not always required, but provides optimum structural strength. It also allows you to do one layer at a time with that polyester based resin that cures soooooo fast. Good luck.
I'm at episode 179 going back over the beginning learning so much never sailed you guys are awesomeness!!! Love and Gratitude!!

What's your channel called Cheers n beers Marty Qld Australia
Hi guys, I haven't been on the water in 30 years and am rediscovering my desire and joy for the sea. I'm from St. Thomas, USVI but living in Washington State, USA for the last 24 years. Since discovering you guys and other cruisers' KZread channels, I think I'm about to take my chance at owning my own sailboat and working it. At almost 52 years of age, I'm discovering that those plans I made as a younger me were exactly for that guy. Now, since hearing/seeing your offer for us viewers interested in hurricane boats on Episode 4, I'm commenting and asking for information that would lead me to a decent project boat. I still have family and friends back home that I believe are willing to help rebuild a boat for that last chapter of (self inflicted ass busting work) adventure in my life.
I found your channel last night and watched 4 in a row brilliant videos and inspirational. The skill and bravery to take on a project like this and to do it with friends is really what dreams and hard work are made of. Hats off to you guys. Please keep the videos coming. From 🇬🇧
What an amazing effort! So impressive! You clearly have lots of resilience and courage! I think I might use some of your videos to show my students for their Personal Development skills subject.
great job folks....to be young and have a boat like that is a huge blessing...may the force be with you all
Respect,a low bow for you all! Big balls ,spirit and soul, together with a fine taste for gorgeous woman and a warm heart for animals
Great story line. A ton of work to get underway
You are one brave soul along with your crew to take on this kind of project!!! I commend you and all the people that have helped you two get your boat see worthy!!!
im a few years late but gunna enjoy catching up :) loving the videos so far
This is so fun to watch from the beginning. I wastched about the last 39 episodes so it’s great to see how it all started. Thank you.
Hi guys I think it’s amazing what you have achieved so far can’t wait to watch all the rest of the videos Cliff from Logan City Queensland Australia
What I like is That KIWI ingenuity and the number 8 wire way things are done, great to see you taking the bull by the horn and living a dream, we all know that we are a long time dead, so keep on sailing.
I've been Watching Below Sailing Yacht since the beginning, And today July 30th 2023, while searching the internet for a 11Meters (36ft) to a 16 Meters (52ft) used and or salvage sailboats power sailboats, catamarans and motor boats, To buy and fix so I can go "off grid". Well, by coincidence I found your KZread channel. I grew up in Puerto Rico and spent the summers fishing and some times sailing the Caribbean on a 9 Meters with my 4 cousins. It was a little bit crowded, but we didn't care. We had a lot of fun! Now, I just want to GO... and have that little bit of true freedom!! LOL 🤣🤣😝
Great job guys.Enjoying life is what matters.Have fun,and keep on working. One day it will all be done.Great job again guys.
Love following your story and adventure Colin, awesome job with the editing Maria!
Hey. Nothing like the satisfaction of doing it yourself. Great experience that will help you later on. Doing a great job.
Thanks for your content 👍🙏🇬🇧
My Wife is wondering what has captured my attention......so loving this journey and adventure......GG 100%
Your living the dream....living the dream and I'm living it vicariously through you. Thanks for sharing. :)
Had a more recent video in my watch later...started watching and instantly was like OMG I need start these from beginning....that's Colin!! Instantly on Ep 4 and hooked!!
I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!
Keep up the good work, it took 18 months to rebuild my sailboat SV. Skoiern IV. when it was knocked over on the hardstand at a yacht club. Soon it will be ready to sail again, so I do know the very hard work attention to detail required to take on a major rebuild, this comment is my way of saying I understand the effort required to salvage and rebuild a boat, I'm impressed.
Colin this is my new favourite channel on KZread bro, living vicariously through you from the frozen North up in Ontario Canada!
Freeking love it!! Brave it out. Do the repairs on the water and still sailing the 7 seas. Wow!! Love your approach and screw what others think, because many days sailing with nobody around to raise an opinion anyway.
I Love that you putting the effort in yourself . great work , really inspired
Looks are all perspective. 🤔😎👍

Great job on fixing the boat. Amazing ship
Really amazing! Perfect vids, you guys.
Really coming along. Looking forward to the next episode! Could ya'll possibly do an episode about cost. How much did the boat cost salvaged? How much have u spent repairing so far? And how much more do you plan to spend to get her to 100%? Best of luck and safe travels?

Ivan Fuyala thanks mate! Appreciate it.
Wow, talk about inspiration... nature keeps providing chances for us. More people should take on the task and the seas should be alive with sailors. ☆ two thumbs up
Great work! This channel is gonna blow up any day now ;)
Awesome video
Mate, those scratches'll just buff out no worries, few weeks on the hard and it's a gooden. Cheers
need to make another comment, you say she looks like shit, she is a bit rough, but you guys have a lovely vessel and should be so proud of her. Lagoon is a strong boat. safe passage to you all.
Awesome job👍
Well done !! That was a really clean edit , the story progressed really well. Try and find some crazy people to film next episode, some real boat psychos that haven’t left the docks in ten years, but are planning to leave any day now
Well done! It takes courage to achieve your dreams.
Interesting videos. Keep it up.
Yay! Nice to hear a Kiwi voice!
Hello, guys. You followed me randomly on Instagram so I followed you back and founded your channel. Well.. thanks for that. I'm really enjoying your videos haha wish you success at the boat recovery and good wind!!!
Boat looks a bit more Land Rover than Audi Q7 but it’s a whole lot better than my couch which is where I am watching you guys doing it. I reckon just paint it matt black, Grey and white camouflage and keep sailing. Great effort.
I am an engineer.. really like what you did..appreciate the huge effort .. I can imagine how much happy you are..👍
Hey, it's nice to find you videos, your are doing great job there with you Cat, looks really good, and nice to see a Colombian girl living the dream, hope can meet you guys when you around Colombia.
Beautiful boat.
awesome vid guys well done
If this is any indication of what it model looks like then wow it's a miracle that you guys are still on the water and I'll just be thankful I had the boat y'all are awesome
Colin, when people look at you funny, don't tell them she's Hurricane Damaged, tell them you had a 'little' Run-In with Pirates. Sounds MUCH more Glamorous,LOL.
I'm enjoying following your journey, thanks for sharing. With regard to water desalination units look up Emerald Steel, their a sailing couple very capable, built their own desal unit some time ago its still going strong, well documented build using standard parts easy to replace but from what I remember they've had no or few problems with it. i think they run it on a smallish generator. Good Luck.
Good luck. It'll be worth the effort.
Totally impressed with the work you have done. It looks so much better. Well done.
Holy Moma,wow !
Nice Job! 🔝🔝🔝
Bloody kiwi's love mate great job, best way to do it for shore!!!!! will follow suit, hope to catch up one day. like that model awesome. AB Smashed Aussi other Day what a joy !!
Looks like you got it all together. I used to work on Catamarans in Ft Lauderdale, pretty much all brands and all parts of them. I like the layout of the Lagoons the best. Be very glad you did not get a newer one with the E-Plex system. It's nice but once it takes a lightning strike you can't even flush the head. You will lose EVERYTHING with E-Plex. Just make sure you have good lightning insurance, it's not a matter of if, it's just a matter of time before you take one and they are very expensive. If you need any tips or help just ask.

Well done guys, when you do the gel coat you should paint a cool grey colour.
Wow!!! i didn't know the ROOM was gonna be that big
Great repair hold love to do one
yes, I am interested in catamaran damaged boat and I love the video.
St.Maarten!!! Yeyy😃
Question...was this boat operated by BVI Yacht Charters? We chartered a Lagoon 45 named Parlay in April of 2017 out of Road Town Tortola. I’m curious if that’s the same boat. That would be really cool if it was. Your living the dream!!👍

Hola chicos, me hubiera gustado ver todo el interior , creo que faltaron las otras habitaciones, baños, lounge, etc. Felicitaciones por el trabajo que han hecho. Saludos
Where can I buy merchandise?!?!?!? Love the show! Keep it up guys
Im way too excited about being ur 222nd subsciber. Kind of an ocd moment for me. Im only subscribed to like 4 channels but ur boat is bitchin and with enough time and effort it could be pretty close to its former glory. Wish i could be a part of the repair process, can only imagine the sense of accomplishment of sailing and living aboard something that was essentially garbage and is now a source of adventure and freedom.
Spectrum water maker is the best way to go. Nothing else can really compare!
you need to start a patron account to help the financing of getting this boat back to its former glory

No they don't - people say "don't buy a bigger boat than you can afford". Having to go Patreon falls into that category.
Great video.im glad yall found this boat. Can you let me know how you go about finding a hurricane damage boats please. Safe sailing
Hey Colin Love what you guys are doing 🤙 Last year we got a Rainman water maker made in Sydney Australia 140L p/hr runs off a 2kva Honda generator, it’s changed our cruising experience completely now we have min 20L showers each every day which is amazing but yeah it cost $7200 AUD, took me 1 day to install. All the components are common in any chandlery (not proprietary like most brands) and it can also be installed with push fit connections to be portable which makes it super easy to service or change membranes etc up on deck if it’s hot down below. The best feature is that you can make water within 10 minutes of unpacking it from new and is so simple and user friendly ...it just works every time. I normally don’t endorse a brand or products but the Aussie built Rainman is the goods. If you haven’t yet Check it out online. Cheers from SV Breezy 🌬⛵️🌏

10:51 “We know it’s structurally sound…” 😫 2 years later….
Sailing La Vagabonde has a great DIY on installing a water maker-check it out!
Super Cool All, Not missing anything on land, let me know if you head to Newport Beach, California.
Wow you got a great price on your dinghy especially with a 15 hp motor - pretty standard charter boat dinghy in the BVI's but adequate hp.
hey guys love your vid.s luv your work! can you post a link toward the end of each vid to your previous vid. that way new viewers can do a catch up keep going!

Boatworks Today is the YT channel with heaps of glassing info.
"the boat looks a bit shit." I would have to disagree with that 100%. She looks like it's been through hell and back but came out on top! Your love for her shows, and there's not a THING wrong with that! Let 'em give you dirty looks and hate! :)
Fair winds.
Hi, thanks for your video, I learnt a lot!! You guys are genius. I’m buying a TOTAL SUNKen boat. The current owner has fixed most of things on board. So it’s in working order I Genral. But I got THREE major concerns I indeed need you help. One: how do I know if the boat is Structural ok or not? How do I find “covered up” weak holes under the gelcoat? Two: since everything is under water for a long time, even with all Electronic replaced, I assume the wiring is bigger prolebm in future? Three: what else should I watch out? Thanks so much!
Definitely want to know more about buying a damaged boat! It seems like even boats that are fixed after damage go for much less. Why is that? If it's structurally sound, what's the issue?
Looking to buy a catamaran eventually. Can you give me some more information on the way you purchased the boat? Thanks guys keep up the hard work!
When your laying up the glass and core get 2 sided tape and plastic and vacuum bag it to make sure the resin soaks through uniformly.i used to work for a boat builder and when you do repairs if their not tight they seperate.your repairs should be stronger than the original and i would assume that lagoon does vacuum bagging
Nice job! It is my dream of last 5 years! But I need some knowleges about repair of fiberglases boats to be a sure that the boat I repaired will withstand storms and distant passages. Tnx 4 video!

I learned by buying fiberglass repair kits and practicing. Find a PT job at a boat marina and get some one to show you. It isn't that complicated.
The lifeline is the link between the sailor and his boat and is the point of attachment of the harness lanyard when moving around the deck. It must therefore be accessible, practical and solid. Are used always for any person on deck during sailing...
Hey great project!! Just wondering if you could send me details on how u bought it with an approximation of the price? Keep it up looking like lots of hard work but fun at the end!
