My new home in zone 9b has 3 totally different camellia varieties. After watching your videos I plan on giving them the attention they deserve and to try to ID when they bloom again! Love love your passion for the garden 💕

What months are you thinking for “early pollinators”? Yuletide blooms in the winter (I think around Xmas) and is a single flower good for pollinators.

@@LinusCello75 Thanks! Doesn’t look like that variety is hardy in 6a. Lovely though. I’m just trying to offer food for any pollinator that might be out and about on the random warmish “winter” day. I’m eyeing some on Camellia Forest’s site.

Hi Brie, do you make your own tea? Would you be interested in making a video explaining the ABC's of growing, harvesting, and preparing your own tea. By the way, one of the first flowering shrubs I ever got, was a camellia after watching a video where you were giving a tour at Cam Forest. You said something like "Everyone should get a camellia, or get a hundred" . Something about that just made me want to go out and get my own even though I have never seen one growing in my zone 7A NJ.

Omg that was the very first video I ever did for pbs!! Too funny! Clearly my love of camellias hasn’t changed. I’ll coordinate with camellia forest make a tea harvesting video as Christine parks is the best resource, she wrote the book on it!

Can you grow a small one in a pot and bring it inside for winter? My 💔 with encore azaleas in 6B makes me think they can’t handle our cold.

They are better stashed in a garage vs the heat of the house.

Unless one has shaded area in Texas, camellia will be toast. Is it right?

Yeah camellias really need shade in warm climates. Realistically camellias are best in east Texas where the piney woods are native. They do better in acidic soil.
