I care about their welfare as much as they care about mine, and they would be delighted to see me being worked to death fo my earnings. It MUST stop, and the two party system that so many countries are saddled with is perpetuating it. Do you think the present incumbent is on your side? No, no, no. Kathy Newman totally agree with you truck keep our country "Australia" & basically the whole world going cause without trucks to haul products from factories to stores even to the docks containers have to be transported to the docks to be loaded onto ships! people just don't think about where things come from & process from making til delivery. Also a lot of road uses don't give them room they need let alone respect they deserve.

Since the 50s, they've taught as kids that they're supposed to want a huge house and a fancy car. . Sadly, that led to speculative real estate investing and the housing market becoming a quagmire of over-priced garbage houses and people being in debt for all their working years just to pay that mortgage off. . Now, a lot of younger generation get that there are better ways. Maybe if enough of them go the route of RV conversions for vans and whatnot, the housing market won't be such a mess.

I'm really happy for Stan. Beautiful moment here for sure with his encouragement too. I got my CDL for the first time a few days ago and I start out with my OTR trainer in a couple of days from now. I've always wanted to see the country and drive doing it. I'm sure there will be some challenges ahead but I'm definitely willing to overcome them all and hopefully be successful or just as successful as Stan. Thanks for sharing this moment with us all! -Peace from Atlanta, GA. My name is Xavier. :)

Amazing. I used to camp dispersed in Quartzsite, Yuma and Holbrook, Ca., in the '90's, then got my CDL and drove a million miles in 10 years. Now I am 70 with a small pension from Uncle Sam and thinking about dispersed camping again. Nothing like the solitude of the desert in the winter and the peacefulness of the mountains in the summer. Not being married, I took to life on the road like a duck to water. Camping or driving, nothing like being a Nomad. Nice video. I have to admit it....I miss my Big Rig, as hard a life as it was.

+Past Famous I had a pop top VW Westfalia in the '90's. Yeah, drove a million miles as a company driver for Simon out of Salt Lake and Swift out of Phoenix. For the 10 years I was a driver, I lived in the truck, which had a 70-inch sleeper behind the driver's seat. Except when we had some time off. Then me and my dog would head for the nearest campground or National Forest and sleep in a tent.

Trucking is hard work. First, you have to get your CDL, and probably pass the air brake test and the doubles/triples test and the hazmat test. Then go out with a trainer for several weeks to learn the ropes. Then you get your own truck and try out your wings. Driving a big rig isn't much more difficult than driving a large car, except it is much, much longer and ever manoeuvre has to take that into consideration, especially backing and parking, etc. Everything is power....power windows, power brakes, power steering and this and that. But the transmission has 8,9,10, 13 or 18 gears and double clutching is the proper method for shifting. You got to know all kinds of special laws and know how to use the trucker atlas, know where all the low bridges are and authorized routes....all over the country,, etc., etc., etc. I paid $6,000 for my CDL and 18 weekends of training, 9 in a classroom and 9 on the road. If you are dedicated to a challenging, professional occupation, trucking can be for you.

Nice setup. My friend took his Peterbilt to a company out in Chicago and they stretched the frame approximately 35' and put a custom body on the rig. The company employees the Amish folks to do the the cabinetry and such. Has a couple of slide outs, also self leveling system. He still has the walk through from his cab to the cabin part. Minus the truck, which by the way is an older Peterbilt because he wanted the look, he spent right at $180K. He also had a enclosed double decker caul hauler, maybe 30' in length, made to complete his setup. That was another $60K. Absolutely beautiful. FYI, I asked him about needing a CDL and he said since it's an RV it's not required. But I believe if he at a 70' plus length he's close, if not over the max limit in some states. Stan, if you're interested in his setup and the company he had done the custom work, just let me know.
