Original Description:
To me, there's something about digital tape for film which much more accurately replicates the feeling of actually being there at a time and place. The tape audio compression, visual distortion and glitches, and choppy cuts due to limited time on tape make for a more coloured experience. The added colour makes up for the limitations of the film medium in replicating emotions and vibes of a real life location that only a professional lighting, camera, and post production team can do with modern, cleaner, clearer cameras. Additionally the choppy and incomplete footage gives the ups and downs of a performance without having to sit through an entire set lol (altho some songs were missed entirely)
This film was mostly shot by Cleo Dumas and Scott Sansom with some footage being shot by Julian Duvall. The camera used was a Sony Hi-8 tape recorder. The date of the filming and the show was Aug 5th 2023 at Vault Skateboards in Nanaimo BC during our 'Fix It Up In Post' mini BC tour. Not all the tour footage turned out so compelling but if y'all like this I may do a tour supercut. (Although It will likely be less music based and more based on us going on an adventure together)
