I live in Kalispell, Montana, I can’t believe the weather that we’ve had over the last several days. I’ve ridden part of the route two days ago north of whitefish Lake and it was pretty cold and wet. I ran into Ryan Van Dozer in Columbia Falls today. His spirits are up and feels good. still cool weather, two weeks ago you would have no idea that our temperatures would drop and rain and snow would make its way in

No flatties, no crashies, no whammies!
Yo Josh arrived Whitefish after the divide pass there was 28F dippin dot sleet and wind. Cold and happy but out of abundant caution in taking a day off to rest. Gave my winter gloves to a young rider who was ill prepared for the Canadian variable winter conditions. cheers from paradise
I look forward to your coverage every year, thank you
Thanks Redshift for being part of this, I like your products! And thanks Josh for the coverage.
Keep an eye on the BIG inspiration of the race… JAY HEFNER! An incredibly inspiring individual! A feel good story in and of itself! Rode his bike from Tennessee to Banff to race. A rookie rider..he faced Canadian headwinds..enough said 😃🚴🙏🏽
I wake-up looking forward to your updates. These are the best. Safe travels all.
Thanks for the updates. Really informative and gives an insight of the toughness of everyone taking part, not just the elite riders .
love these, thanks for covering and keep them coming
I love this event. So many variables and curve balls. Respect to anyone who gets to the start line. Who knows what will happen in the next 11 or so days. Great showing by the women. 👏
Really enjoying the updates again this year 👍
Imagine being a participinant and you see those pictures from the first riders. I would quit in the next town. ^^
Awesome to know people like Max are out there.
awesome coverage dude!
was in fernie last night, the weather was abolutely attroce. snow at 1500m. nasty
Thx Josh! Justinas push seems to not work out, but didn’t backfire either. Maybe it wasn’t even a push, but his “normal” driving. He seems to do similar rest times just more often and in weird places compared to Uba. Laurens sleeps a little more. But all together they seem to be equally impressive strong. Prediction for day 5: Justinas will go first just before sunrise. Uba and Laurens will sleep till a little after sunrise. Hopefully they don’t get stuck on Bannak Road and leave Lima more or less together. They will continue to Island Park, where they sleep. The next push (likely by Justinas or maybe Uba) will wait till the end of day 6 between Togwotee and Union Pass. Long term prediction: They will stay near to each other until Laurens makes the big and winning push somewhere in the middle of New Mexico on tarmac. Or the heat will end his winning hopes in that case who ever recovers faster from the shared illness will make the winning push in the Gila Forest

I was really off for Laurens today. Don’t know what happened, but he is definitely off plan, sleeping somewhere between Lima and Island Park, likely in his bivy after not too many miles (by their standards). And the other two are going strong. Did Laurens overpace? Did the weather wear him done? Did the flat tire to start the morning throw him off? I noticed his updates on insta got fewer and less energetic. His enthusiastic buddy didn’t commentate at all yesterday. Any Dutch speakers that can judge my feelings about his updates? The interesting thing is now: Can he recover? Ride on with the chase group?

Seems like his tracker is broken. According to his team he is almost in Mack’s Inn. I hope you can include that into your next update; @joshibbett
thanks again
Great update again, Josh. Good to see LtD is leading the race for the moment. He is one tough Dutchy!!

I met one of the riders in Helena last night, and he said that there was snow on all the passes, and tons of mud. I didn't catch his name, but he was riding to Basin last night. It must have been a hard night with the rain and going over Lava Mountain in the dark. It's kinda funny. With how infamous that section is, hardly any of the riders I've talked to don't know about it.
The race leaders are going to hit the peanut butter on Bannock bench Road from the storm that just went through. Going to be interesting to see how they approach that section . Great job on the updates!

I heard it tries of pretty fast. Let’s hope for the best
Meaghan pace is very strong. Hope she can keep it up🇨🇦
LTD is all about that regular sleep schedule and ride a bit harder during the waking hours
Lack of sleep might not be the best idea, Justinas sounds like he's drunk 😂

True but if he was drunk he would have said "I love you, man."
Such a shame Liam Glen has scratched. He was doing so well over the first few days.

Yes, health and toughness.......women can win just aswell.
Hi Josh thanks for keeping us updated . Do riders stop their GPS units and save daily segments and then collate them at the end to show one big ride or do they just leave the gps on the whole time ?
How’s Jack Keogh going from Australia ?
