Tour Divide 2023 | Podium Finish | Part 1

Спорт

After 4 months of preparation I finally made my way to Banff, Canada to kick off the 2023 Tour Divide. I'd put everything I could into the preparation but was missing the most crucial aspect which was experience. With only a couple of ultra bike races under my belt entering the Divide with riding fast was an ambitious move but one I certainly don't regret!!
This video follows the first half (2,200km) of this incredible route to the point of Wamsutter, Wymoing. Keep an eye out for part 2 which will drop on the 26th of July. Cheers!
Thumbnail photo thanks to @laurakillingbeck (instagram) who I was lucky enough to run into out on course!

By far the best coverage of the many facets of the event - food, drinks, sleeping spots, trail conditions, weather, and a bear. We thoroughly enjoyed this. You could have been in last place and it would still be awesome. Inspiring. Good onya Joe!

Great race!! Your video (also great by the way) is bringing out a whole bunch of elemental TDR truisms. One of which sort of goes like: You plan, study and train for months. During the race some small thing(s) go a bit sideways, and you lose some hr.(s) here and there. For many racers, thinking about those lost hrs leads to the ‘what ifs’, which leads to the question of if there is ever a ‘next time’-- and execution is somehow closer to perfection--how much time could I shave off….looking forward to your second vid!!

BTW when the top 3 were held up in the storm, the 3 of them sought refuge in a porter cabin. Nice and snug.... wonder who got the throne?
