Nice!!! I am spinning new-to-me gulf coast native. Always fun to try something new.

I have a full fleece from one of my Shetland sheep and plan to spin that to make a cardigan. I’ve not heard of tour de fleece before but a challenge is a great motivator. So I will start tomorrow and may watch a little Tour de France as I spin ❤️

I started spinning some charolais last fall with plans to knit a large bag/basket then felt it to use for storage. It’s fun to spin and has amazing volume.

You guys were the very first fiber people I ever watched. And you completely changed my life and the way I look at clothing and also the work of my ancestors who were seamstresses and tailors. What a gift! Happy creating 💚🧶💚

My Tour de Fleece plans is to get used to spinning again on a daily/regular basis and to make enough yarn to knit a Maxim Cyr's Field. Last year was very unsuccessful. Since then i have bought a different wheel which I am much better at producing yarn. Your breed kits sound interesting

It’s funny this vid popped up this morning, as just last night I decided to I was going to participate in TDF this year. (I never remember on time 😊). I just learned how to spin on a turkish spindle & wanted to do that for this year’s TDF. And here u are this morning… 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 can’t wait to try ur sunset colorway. Spinning TDF with French wool…cool idea lol. My ultimate goal for this is to master (or at least get somewhat proficient) the turkish spindle.

I plan on participating. This year is going to be my first year doing the Tour de Fleece. My goal is just to establish a regular spinning habit. I want to spin yarn to make socks, so I think this will help me do it.

Please show us the fleece being spun, plied, circular sock machined and finally the finished product. The colours you dyed those bumps look lovely and clear, as you said, and very cheerful. I don't have any Tour de Fleece plans, mainly as I have a _lot_ of knitting either in progress or planned. And I've ordered a couple more parcels of yarn... It's not just yarn greed, one is wool with which to make a baby cardigan for a pregnant friend and the other is brightly coloured sock yarns to join in a surprise sock along, as I've got some health issues and I'm hoping some cheerful socks will cheer me up while in and out of hospital. I spin a little nearly every day, as I am a relatively new spinner and I want to improve my skills. At the moment I'm working through a sample pack of Shetland fleece in natural colours. Even the colour that was my least favourite looks great spun up. So that will have to do for my Tour de Fleece.

Absolutely. The fibre is all divided and I just need to diz/fluff it and start spinning! I'll film it all along the way... I hope that cheerful socks will cheer you up too! And wishing you lots of happy spinning during Tour de Fleece!

Intrigued by Charollais. How many braids would you need for a pair of socks knit traditionally.?

I believe one braid of 100g is typically enough to spin fingering weight yarn for socks (that fit me).

Do you have a video link you could share about running the split fiber through a carder and a diz? I would like to learn more as I have a braid that feels a little dense.
