Tour and Explore the historic city of Gloucester, Gloucestershire

Welcome, let me walk you around the city of Gloucester and give you an insight into its fascinating history and heritage spanning 2,000 years.
It is a cathedral city alongside the River Severn, the most inland port in the UK.
It's strategic position meant that it became an important port for the supplying the Midlands with food and materials during the Industrial Revolution.
It is the location for the University of Gloucestershire having campuses in the city centre as well as the nearby Regency Spa town of Cheltenham.
There are a number of museums recounting the fascinating development of the city. The Museum of Gloucester which is also where The Tourist Information Centre is based is in Brunswick Road off Eastgate Street.
The historic docks, now no longer commercially viable, has the impressive Waterways Museum in a converted Victorian Warehouse which explains the history of the docks and the Sharpness Canal. It also has The Soldiers of Gloucester Museum in an Old Customs House which tells the story of two Gloucestershire regiments and the brave soldiers that have taken part in all major conflicts during their 300 year history. There are plenty of waterside pubs, cafes and restaurants to enjoy.
The Docks hold a variety of exciting events, festivals and celebrations throughout the year including the fabulous Tall Ships festival, the Gloucester Food Festival, and the popular Victorian Christmas Market.
There are films, shows, lectures and live music events at the Gloucester Guildhall.
The famous Three Choirs Festival rotates between the Cathedrals of Hereford, Worcester and Gloucester. The area has produced many famous musicians some have memorials in the Cathedral including John Stafford Smith who composed the music for the American National Anthem.
There really is something for everyone.
