Bonus unrelated fact: If battleships weren't obsolete at the end of World War 2, France would finish the construction of their 'Alsace class' battleships. There is a chance that one of them is named 'Flandre' as it was one of the names presented to Francois Darlan during the planning stage.

I just want to mention a couple of things: 1. Flandre doesn't have a complete understanding of or handle on her powers. If this songs lyrics are to accurately portray Flandre's mindset in canon, She doesn't truly understand that she can "destroy anything she wishes", and as such is a little too rough with her "playmates". 2. I feel like this songs visuals accurately portray "the madness of self-imposed loneliness"

a good representation of what the world of touhou is, behind the beauty, there are things you do not want to know such as yukari, who makes people from the world before get lost and takes them to gensokyo to be devoured by the youkais, or Reimu that he is capable of killing if it is to maintain the order of gensokyo. in the case of flandre he is a multifaceted person, in official manga you could see several of his personalities, the crazy, the rare, the consistent ... I look forward to the next chapter of memories of phantasm, greetings

Flandre is being portrayed as locked in a basement for being rather unstable socially and a danger to all around due to magnitude of her own powers. Truthfully, she kind of sits there on her own since she was asked to behave, but there is nothing really preventing her from roaming the mansion. What kind of locked door could stop a literal destruction incarnate? She IS being prevented from going off mansion grounds with magical rain though. "Vampires cannot cross moving water" and all. You can have some canonical Flandre time in "Cheating Detective Satori" manga.

Exactly. Although this animation is pretty much the fanon version of Flandre.. Canonically, Flandre has never hurt anyone unless they challenge her of course.

Technically, Flandre hasn't killed humans since she hasn't really met one before Reimu or Marisa. Her only contact with humans prior was after they have been processed into sweets like cake.

Though there was that time ZUN noted that "the ability to destroy absolutely anything" doesn't make her a very efficient vampire, since the power would make her prey go BLEWEY! without any blood left for her to drink... Though, then again, that could've been a mere observation on his part, like that time he noted that not even going back in time and trying to kill Mokou and/or Kaguya before they drank the Hourai elixir would have any effect since it granted them _retroactive_ immortality: Doesn't mean that someone has actually gone back in time and tried, just that it wouldn't work even if somebody did.

They have never actually fed her humans, other than small amounts of blood. Sakuya has found alternatives, such as processing flowers that taste like blood into liquid for them.

I think I've said this before, but gensokyo is a youkai sanctuary, and youkai are demons. We are humans. While not all youkai are out to kill us, over 80 percent of youkai are out to kill us. You've seen some of the dark stuff, and there is way darker than this. Just know that in canon there are dark moments and remember you are human, and the majority of the touhou cast is youkai, enemy of humans. This is seen lots in canon too. Even some of the "tame" or "friendly" youkai are not friendly to humans. Alice has even said in a manga that she scares the standard outsider cause it's her job as a youkai as an example. In regards to Flandre, the fans have interpreted many sides to her, and this crazy unstable side is one. Her theme is also called "UN Owen Was Her" hence the video name. Her theme is all over the internet and one of the most well known touhou songs out there.

Yokai in Gensokyo aren't allowed to hurt humans, that includes Vampires. Sakuya finds flowers that taste like human blood and have the nutrients in them to feed Remilia and Flandre.
