Who are we?
We're Alejo and Andrea, a Colombian / American couple in love with adventuring and exploring the ocean. We previously lived in a converted travel trailer as we explored the best kitesurfing spots of North America, and now we're living in our off-grid sailboat while managing our online business as digital nomads. We're now sailing the Caribbean as we explore the best of this blue planet by kiteboarding, free diving, scuba diving, and fishing. ⛵
Our goal here is to inspire you to chase after your own dreams! We hope to create a community of like-minded, positive individuals who will grow to love and support one another on their own journeys.

This video was one of the best videos I’ve seen you guys do. This is the real eye opener for those who think that the sailing life is all fishing and beaches, kite boarding and snorkeling. The money spent was well worth it in the long run, your sailing vessel looks awesome, and your hard paid off. Take care of each other. 😉

You made a very good antifouling paint choice. The silicon paints only work if you are moving fast enough to get the growth off he boat. Your boat won't get that fast despite being a catamaran. SV Delos did silicon and dropped it like a rock. Silicon needs fast water moving over the hull to work. Sitting stll allows the stuff to stick to the hull, and then it doesn't want to come off after that first adhesion.

I read a story about why large ships paint the hulls a light color compared to darker colors. They say that light colors doesn't get barnacles or as much growth on the hull as fast as darker colors. They say that barnacles attach to darker colors and almost avoid the lighter colors. This can prevent hull outs by one to two seasons and maybe longer for a repaint anyway. The study I read said that the shipping industry has spent hundreds of millions of dollars on that study because of the cost of hulling out large ships. That's why you see large ships with red hulls. Great job you two.

Don't blame you for tapping out on the buffing/polishing ! It will flat wear your butt out in the heat ! I used a compound "Aqua Buff" on a boat that had been sitting for years and was so dried out if you leaned against it you would have gel dust all over you ! Once you're done your not done you have to put a couple of coats of wax to seal it ! Damn, if I still had a boat I would be about 15# lighter ?

If you are worried about the environment, next time use coppercoat. Lasts 10 years and in that time it loses only 1% of copper in this 'paint' (it is not really a paint. It is epoxy with copper mixed in. the copper can not leave the epoxy so almost nothing gets into the environment.

GREAT VIDEO 📹THIS WEEK! What I did back in the day on my boats🚢 bottom paint was I added (based on and the old way the old fisherman did on there boats 🚢 and it would last 5 years) copper, nickel, zinc, and arsenic to the paint. Now all that was already in the paint. I just added 30% more to it. And it was a hard paint. And it lasted me over 5 years. And when i had to clean the bottom all i would have is a rag and it all just fell aff. And I Had No Hard Growth on it at all. Ok untell next time ⏲️ Aloha from the Big Island 🏝of Hawaii 🏝
