yes but to be fair Nick did line up the top of Ronaldo's head at the highest point of the jump with the BOTTOM edge of the soccer ball. So Ronaldo could definitely touch this hanging ball (barely), but not hit it forward/score it.

Nick would need a 45 inch vertical to hit the ball! Even ronaldo who is 6'2 would need about a 40 inch vert to hit it, absolute nuts athleticism.

The ball isn't this height in game. This was his best EVER and it was measured to the tip of his hair, not his head. Ronaldo himself, even if he was warmed up and in his prime, wouldn't be able to complete this challenge without a beanie

I hope people appreciate Ronaldo's capability even more. Ronaldo jumped off from grass which was soft., and he his forehead (not the top of his head) hit the center of the ball. Actually he had to use his forehead to hit the center of the ball to achieve that goal. His max height might be considerably higher than that.

what they don't realize is how much harder it is for Ronaldo. Imagine a ball flying towards you at about 80-90km/hour , then defenders fighting you off, trying to outbalance or push you over when jumping.

to your last point, 2.93m was the highest point of Ronaldo's head, so the lowest part of the ball, which is also 2.93m, is the point where Ronaldo touched his head.

What makes Cristiano's header so special is not just the pure vertical factor (which probably could be achieved no sweat by several basketball players), but the fact that his jumping technique makes him "float" on air for a split second which helps him score those crazy headers.
