Many fans back in the 50’s and 60’s would attend Spurs home games one week and then Arsenal the next week. There had always been rivalry between the two teams, but for some reason hatred began to fester and its never gone back to the good old days when fans were more civilised and sporting.

Look at the photographs of people at football in th 50s and 60s,most men were wearing their best clothes, then jump forward to the 70s.The 60s brought a social revolution from the staid 50s but we shouldn't assume that all the changes were for the better.

Blockley in for McLintock! We were never totally happy with team selection. I remember Blockley was accident-prone even before Arsenal signed him!

Interesting analysis from the late Jimmy Hill, Arsenal are so hard to beat - nothing much has changed in the last 50 years then...with the exception of the early sixties, Spurs have seemingly always struggled when playing Arsenal.

Always felt this was the match that started the Tottenham league slide in the 70s. The club hardly won a league game for the next two months and after that it was downhill for the next few years

It's a pity the TV cameras didn't send their quality cameras to the Lane for the meeting in 70-71 when the Gunners won the league here what were they thinking then?
