Toto Italy’s “Prince of Laughter”, was revered by his public not only as comic, actor, writer, singer and songwriter but also as the greatest Italian artist of the 20th century.
Fernandel started out as a singer in operettas, but found that he was always cast in the comedy role. In 1930, Fernandel starred in his first film which proved a huge success and presaged a 41-year movie career. He is considered to be France’s top comic film actor.

To those of you who have seen the movie 'Cinema Paradiso' ..... Geusseppi (in this movie) is the character in the REAL comic film being shown in 'Cinema Paradiso' just as the film catches fire. This is the part where Alfredo projects the movie onto the wall of a building across the street, only in that silent film he is not sporting the mustache. [EDIT] Coincidentally, and maybe NOT so coincidentally, the actor who plays Geusseppi went by the stage name of Toto, which you may recall was the name of the child (main character) in 'Cinema Paradiso'.

Totò italian pride! In Italy he's called "Il Principe della Risata" (the Prince of the Laugh).
This is real talent. absolutly different from the movies we watch today that most are focused on sex
