Excellent tutorial, you are such a great teacher ! I bought a Bernette 82 e for my 6 yrs old daughter and fell in love with it. Now I really think will go for B Chicago since it is such a great machine and need an embroidery unit. It would be helpful if you could elaborate a bit just on the embroidery part of the machine. Thank you !

Hi Minkiza, the Chicago 5 has no embroidery functionality. You can sew the tote bag without the embroidery part.

The height is around 10mm, which is the minimum height. If you want to embroider smaller letters, we recommend to use the BERNINA Toolbox or the BERNINA Embroidery Software.

Hi Loredana, for Chicago 7 you can use BERNINA or bernette USB sticks, other USB sticks are also possible. But please note: The loading of designs via USB stick is only possible up to a storage capacity of max. 32GB and USB 2.

help me please! I have this machine, but my under thread is extremely loose, so i cant let the machine embroider .. even the things on the machine itself, what do i do wrong? its a brand new machine!

I contacted my bernette dealer as in embroidery mode, the thread jam in the bobbin eating the stabiliser and fabric. But the retailer refused to help. Since the sewing works perfectly. No help from support either. Been 1 month ...

Hi Jennifer, can you please email to mybernette@bernina.com and let us know which country you live in, where you have bought your machine (the retailer that refused to help) and where exactly you asked for support? We will then pass the information on to the local distribution organization which will hopefully solve the problem.

Hey i would be extremely interested in which stabilizer you use because i cannot seem to find a stabilizer stiff enough to hold the textile flat

Dear Luke, we used quite a heavy canvas fabric for the tote bag, so a medium-weight tear-away stabilizer was sufficient. If your fabric is thinner and you think it would be better to use a heavier stabilizer, you can also use 2 layers of the mediumweight stabilizer. We used stabilizer from Vlieseline : www.vlieseline.com/Products/Creative-Range/Stitch-n-Tear/ but there are also available from OESD : www.oesd.com/docs/OESD_Stabilizers.pdf

Could someone help a me, the machine doesn’t move the cloth while sewing

How do we put a space between words

Hi Eileen, with the numbers there is an underline symbol that you can use to get a distance between words. This will be embroidered, but there is no other possibility. Except to program and embroider it separately.

Boa tarde ...preciso de ajuda....minha maq. e uma bernina bernette chicago 7 Quando ligo a maquina e seleciono USB aparece um x no pendrive e quando coloco o pendrive continua a msn...ja usei bordar com pendrive e funcionou troquei o pendrive por um novo de 4 g mais continua aparecendo o alerta.....se puderem me ajudar agradeco muito.

You don’t have to set up the bernette specially for fancy stitches. We recommend to use a tear-away stabilizer on the back to give more stability to the fabric. The settings are done automatically by the machine but of course it can be necessary to adjust the thread tension etc. as this is depending on the material.

Select a stitch that is suitable for this technique and sew the stitch approx. 1 cm inside the edge of the fabric. Trim the outside of the stitches but make sure you don’t cut the thread.

I know you're not selling this machine any more, but I need help! I need to know how to back up a color or two in my embroidery piece. Thanks in advance!

Hi Laurie, you can use the button with the thread spool (in sewing it is the stitch width button) to go back or to move to the next color.

Dear طريق الهدى, the maximum embroidery area of the Large hoop is 160 x 260 mm. It is not possible to stitch larger embroidery designs.
