This is actually based off of the lore, they knew it was a Von Carstein, but not Mannfred specifically, it could have been a minor vampire, they were wrong.

+lcmiracle Well, according to the lore; Imperial tax collectors from Stirland often come to Sylvania to get their due (as the Empire sees it as being part of that County), although always with a sizable armed escort. I suppose missing collectors and other strange happenings would warrant the attention of the Witch Hunters. Saying that, this one should've either brought a larger army, or none at all so he could pass relatively unnoticed.

Certainly the best trailer for a specific faction we've had so far. I mean, there were dwarves fighting zombies. There were undead legions, a great vampyric monologue over their battles, and even an undead dragon... It was intriguing, creepy, and a good little snapshot of the story. And there were bats, giant bats...and one of them looked like it came right out of a clown's asshole. What's not to love?

+Marek Kubica +Oliver Svensson While the Empire, Dwarves, Brettonia and High Elves are marginally more good than Chaos, Greenskins or VC, they all have some really shady stuff going on. Brettonia is a fine example: while the nobles are chivalrous and honorable, the oppression of the serfs is so over-the-top that it can easily rival any 40k Hive World's insane social stratification. And the High Elves do have benign intentions, but they are extremely arrogant and haughty about everything. HE are still more "good" than their Craftworld Eldar cousins, but not by much. This extends to the characters themselves. Karl Franz, for example, is often portrayed as a good man, but the Window Tax Riots debacle proved him a tyrant with pretensions of nobility.

But it felt like something was missing, something was off. it must be the way they had the undead the armor is the same the zombies attacking the dwarves are the same. It's like they rushed this faction. I don't know about you but I might go with the orcs or dwarves in this one or maybe chaos warriors if they get a better trailer out to see new units.

This vampire lord is equal to an Unseen Elder which is a witcher cant handle 1v1 , Geralt can be a backdoor soldier or a special unit in this fight, but lesser vampire that he can handle as your say.

ragelion Hear hear. However, they could have kept the setting and just changed the rules. I'm still perplexed over how it could be that 40k is selling so much more for so many years. Like, visit some of the community websites for each setting, and it's evident that fantasy has so many more topics, members and all that than the 40k universe. A site like druchii.net is miles ahead of its Dark Eldar counterpart and so on. Maybe its the collecting aspect?

+Jonatan Nyvall Problem is most people buy models because they are pretty not for the game rules. Hell their highest selling model was a giant dragon from lords of the rings. Honestly AOS is young the setting needs to be fleshed out just like the old world. From what I have seen so far the undead lore has been handled really(when have they ever messed up undead?) well and I am personally waiting for the next edition rules if they ever do them. All they need is a simple comp setup that does not require hundreds of models and they will be good. I mean honestly fantasy was not all that great when it first came out in terms of fluff and rules honestly I feel it was worse than the start of AOS. Just like Gav Thorpe details on his blog honestly I am more of a collector. That's just my opinion on it.

Guranteed siege battles won't function like advertised here.

Jeyger It's a fully kitted (equipped with best items) Vampire Lord which is as strong in close combat as a Chaos Lord but additionally also has magic and can heal himself ^^

+123456gordon actually they are, the walls as well. check out the CA dev blog, they said, that there is only one big wall in sieges, which is so massive, u can deploy troops like in a field battle. the streets and the cities at all are much larger as well

+Zacfawstea It's called ripping out the most important nation in the game and selling it as DLC. It was announced over 6 months (now more like 8) before release. We got the army list before the Vampire Counts for crying out loud (that we still don't have yet)! It is literally like they tried to sell Rome as Preorder DLC in Rome 2, or Europe in medieval 2. THAT is why people are mad. Maybe if you weren't tongue deep up CA's rear, you would understand it.

I don't think Mannfred's voice actor was a great choice. He's more of a sharp-tongued, courtly type. The voice here is too deep and lacks the sense of morbid humor that you can expect from him.

dewiowen1 Exactly. He's thuggish and too much of a brute force guy in general. Mannfred stood for subtlety, schemes, intelligent use of arcane might, though he was also an excellent duelist. This here strikes me more like the mad count Konrad von Carstein (minus the insanity/schizophrenia).

I agree. I think it would have been a great voice for Archaon. Not so sure about Mannfred. It is pretty intimidating though, I'll give it that.

+Timothy Bucket You know what, that's a great shout. Archaon is all hyperbole 'doom and destruction' in his capacity as Lord of the End Times, so this voice and dialogue would suit him quite well.

I really just hope that if an expansion is to add Nagash into the game, he'll be voiced by Ramon Tikaram. As trashy as Age of Sigmar is, his performance in the audio dramas was outstandingly chilling. Speaking of the audio dramas, the actor they chose for Mannfred there would've been a good pick for the game too.

I thought the Manndred's voice was a little off. I mean he's a vampire not a chaos daemon. A softer, more cocky noble type of voice would've worked better. Something like Tom Hiddleston's portrayal of Loki. Something that makes you think that he's in complete control of everything would've been a little more fitting for a vampire.

Huh. Based on the video I wonder if you'll be able to use low clouds as cover or hiding places for air units, like forests for ground units. That would be an interesting mechanic.

Looks great. Still I refuse to pre-order any TW games after rome 2 and see there is still first day DLC for this game.

+Kelyn Harrup Total War took alot of controversy for their Attila game because a lot of players felt that they were just trying to money-grub, by giving out DLC's that could've been included in the game. Like a blood and gore DLC pack that only adds more animations to the game for 6 bucks or whatever on release

sejemandhaha There are probably books/story about Warhammer. I might go look into it. I always heard the lore was incredible and I'm a bit tired of the Tolkien universe. I really hope they add a section for the lore in-game.
