I love the almost horror movie feeling of this trailer. Seeing them walk through the fog to the sound of bells ringing, the fact that both sides hit them with everything they have yet it seems like their numbers never end. Probably the best trailer for a race in both games imo

The Skaven is by far GWs greatest achievement when it comes to fantasy its a race truly of their own and to this day is still their most unique and most well fleshed out race that they can call their own in the fantasy genre. To those who helped turn the skaven to what they are should be proud of this accomplishment. their visuals are completely their own and along with their society, religion to just how they speek and move its truly special. I would even argue that the skaven are the most iconic race GW ever created even when comparing it to 40k. I simply can't think of any other race thats as unique and as fleshed out as them.

That's not really a good comparison. Some regiments of guardsmen do treat their soldiers as cannonfodders, like the Death Korp of Krieg or the Steel Legion of Armageddon. But others do not afford that, such as the 1st and only of Tanith or the 8th of Cadia (yes, Creed do care about his men to use "expendable" tactics only as last resort.) A better comparison would've been the Tyranids with which the Skaven shares the closest affinity for _"power through number"_ ... though the Nyds would win the competition handily.

The thunderous tolling is magically amplified and with each toll, the din grows louder and more terrible, making the very stones to split and buildings to crumble. To those that are attunned to the Horned Rat, each toll gives out one single worded message: doom.

Seeing that Saurus stop a rat ogre in its tracks gives me newfound respect for the lizardmen.

Not to mention the time Blizzard were making an RTS game and asked GW for the rights to the Warhammer. GW refused and that game went on to be Warcraft. Imagine if GW had done some market research back then. End times was worse though, when GW stripped away the lore people started to realise that the rules were just not very good. Mostly because they are still a hang-over from D&D rules and not really designed for war gaming.

It could have been but Angrund, Sarsnik and skavenblight are all right next to each other. They will wipe each other out before even sending an army over there. I think they need to reposition skarsnik in eight peaks and maybe have angrund in Araby? If someone wants to fight in the currant mountains they can do so as the wood elves.

@@pyrrusi6070 Skaven will most likely just kill you, or at the least, dont have the patience to draw it out. dark elves will make your death far, far, *far* more agonizingly painful. Also, skaven mages dont really compare to malekith and teclis.

They also have assassin's and better technology than dark elves, they don't need magic Also a big arsenal of plagues at their service

@@pyrrusi6070 dark elf armies have been destroyed myriad times. They didnt stop cause they were too stubborn. It is possible to stop the skaven too- Tehenhauin did it in lustria. Given a choice between skaven and dark elves, the skaven are still likely more militarily dangerous, but against the dark elves almost nobody stands a chance against any given warrior, and your death will be far, far, *far* more nightmarish. Plus, the dark elves are more likely to strike and withdraw with their slaving fleets, making them more of a constant threat.

FamousDMagnificent they will probably have alot of stalk and vanguard units, so they will be all over the place. I'd imagine alot of dwarf players will be staying highly defensive, maybe throwing slayers or miners out to find units so the artillery can tear it up.

they are not that mobile, because they have no horsemans etc. But you are right, they have a overall nice movement speed and the fact that they can tank/overrun the dwarves with masses AND have the option of the greates (and mostly self destructivest) warmachines help them to split the armor of the dwarves.

Vermintide is an annual holiday for the Skaven, like Hexensnacht for the Vampires/Imperials. It's a feast day, and at one point a day chosen by the Council of Thirteen to conjure the Horned Rat himself in a successful attempt to alleviate the grueling Civil War the Skaven had been fighting for a couple hundred years at the time. The game takes its name from this.

Based on stats shown and the fact that the High Elves have 3 Dragons, that says enough. Dragons in these games so far have been absolutely useless and far from worth their cost both in campaigns and MP. High Elves have been made useless, and until that is remedied NOT by mods, but by CA, I have no interest in supporting the game.

Decrease your sodium intake, please. The Devs have stated that Dragon units will be getting a blanket buff with Total War: Warhammer 2, in the form of breath weapon attacks. They'll be able to do strafing runs on enemy units, bombarding them with these breath attacks too.

It actually makes sense lore-wise. Ulthuan is the continent with the least Skaven tunnels since it's protected by magic. (However, judging by the recent assassination of a High Elf wizard in this home that "lacked the usual signs of Dark Elf atrocity", that' about to change.) Naggaroth, however, is pretty thoroughly corrupted by Skaven tunnels. Not to the extent of the Old World or Lustria, but enough that full-scale wars between Dark Elf and Skaven do occur. Also, Malekith may want to put his invasion of Ulthuan on hold if someone convinced Clanlord Gnawdwell to send the Headtaker all the way to Naggaroth from Karak Eight Peaks. Seriously, if there's any rat that you do not mess with, it's Queek Headtaker.

FINALLY

You have no idea how good it feels to see Queek shank a pointy eared git.

imagine the 'mad scientist' trope and then make it an entire faction, that's the Skaven.

Yeah, I meant that ringing the bell 13 times and that the Skaven were the 13th faction were cool because of how closely tied to the Skaven that number is, not just those two things in correlation. I'm not going to pretend to know a bunch about the lore though, but it is definitely all interesting.

More than three years on, and I'm sat here wondering: why didn't they do a Skaven Scribe reacts video to this trailer? Two and a half minutes of pure skaven hype, giddiness and cackling. They really should do more Skaven Scribe reacts, he could/should have his own channel.

Though I am sure i'm not the first, it's amazing that you (Total War) make these trailers through the engine of the game. I'm ecstatic while watching these things and I admire that you have enough confidence in your game to show just how beautiful it is without having to rely on anything pre-rendered like so many other games do.

@Thodoris Oikonomakis Go troll somewhere else. @N3RDgamingstudi Yes both map's will be combines in a new Campaign. Currently we have the 'Old World Campaign' in TWWH. Then we get the 'New World Campaign' (not sure if that the final name) in TWWH2. Then after week or so (CA haven't given date yet) after release we will get access to (for free) the 'Grand Campaign' which combines both maps. The release of the 3rd game will likely see the'Grand campaign' map expanded again too. All Faction's and RoR units owned from the first game and its DLC will be playable in TWWH2's multiplayer/custom battles as well.

Age of sigmar has dumbed down rules for normies to play from what I've heard, but to me that's not really the issue. the issue is instead of it being a medieval/renaissance world with fantasy elements, now it's just world of warcraft. Everyone is super magical, Slaanesh is gone, space marines are now in the game, all the elves are friends now and on and all to ever stretching heights of retardness. I hope it goes away and they announce "Classic warhammer reboot". I won't support a single thing from GW until they do (minus of course the odd video game)

AoS has nothing to do with Warhammer Fantasy, its an other (very shitty) world, with creepy scifi-Fantasy and Sigmarines, flying Dwarfes and such "funny" things. If you want to play Warhammer, play Fangames like 9th Age

I've watched this video an unhealthy amount of times to say the least. Needless to say pause at 1:21 a gutter runner is charging into the dark elves.

Oooh, they could take a role similar to the Senate in Rome: Total War or the Pope in Medieval II: Total War, with the many skaven clans all trying to get more favour and more control of the Council through cunning back-stabbery. I don't know if they'll do that, but it would be damn cool if they did!

Did anyone notice when it shows all the skaven slaves charging at the elves that some were actually getting trampled? Idk I just liked that detail that they're expendable even to themselves😂

Well it kind of depends on how they can be balanced to have fodder units if limited to the same 20 unit cap as everyone else. Probably going to end up being similar to VC in that their line troops are fodder but they rely more on the Monstrous units, Artillery, and Magic. Guess the big difference will be Skaven troops will actually have morale an be running away a lot lol.

Trailers tend to be rather... misleading but it did seem like a LOT of rats, the regiments could just have a crap load of units in them (outside of the elite units and whatnot).

yea they had warpfire throwers, seem weird not to have the more famous brother. I think the only Skryre tech not going to show up is a warp-grinder. Simply because there not exactly great for total war type of game.
