Pontus is a interesting faction which is starting from tough but opportunistic position. In this episode of Total War Rome Remastered faction guide I will share with you my view on Pontus starting strategy

Man, finally, I’ve been waiting tensed for new video. For me Pontus is the best faction, I like their challenging position and interesting unit roster. Plus. I think that achievement with merchants called my trade goods bring all merchants to the yard is broken and I don’t think it is possible to do it. But please check it, maybe I am wrong.

Hey Khad thanks for checking the new video and coming back. I'll do a bit of investigation on it and will report on this comment probably on merchants. As I was late on this video also due to my RL work and have other videos in que and cant promise when the merchant achiv will be up. Hope investigation and comment report would be good enough for starters :)

@@strategydux Man, thank you very much, I didn’t even expect you to reply to me. I am happy. Take your time, I will try dividing more into mechanics. Maybe I will find an exploit to somehow get it. Again, no pressure, your content is great and keep it up ;)

8:15 exactly what I did. I also pushed to Pergamnon and captured it because they had no walls. I than just signed peace with Greek Cities. But I was than attacked by Armenia (as I did not got alliance with them). But I was able to defend, crush their only army and conquer Armenia.

I found it odd that you discussed the pontic light cavalry but said besides that, the scythed chariots, and the bronze shield and phalanx pikemen, that they have nothing special. What about the pontic heavy cav, cappadocians, and chariot archers?

I actually prefer to push Armenia at start and capture both Kotais and Artaxarta. Armenians have a much stronger roster than Parthia so it is better to erase them before they attack you anyway. After that push Anatolia but without attacking Seleucids till i am really ready because they will have already stacks and phalanx is annoying to fight.

Hardest faction for me, always got backstabbed by the Seleucid and Armenia and later Egypt

I am making some tips video on mechanics cheese and for that backstabbing secret is Don't border them or they will attack 100%. So if you border them you have to attack first hahaha :D

@@pejjxart9331 Yea it is but not from start :D Alliances with neighbors are just "buy time" to deal with other neighbor so you can kill the first guy :D. That is why for example I only took Greek cities in Asia minor not in Greece because romans and Thrace would bang me :D because we are bordering with land

I’m playing a campaign with Spain currently. I have all of Italy, Spain, Sicily, north west Africa including modern day Tunisia as well as most of the Balkans. The only powers left is the British in the north and the Egyptians in the eastern Mediterranean ~ 15 provinces left

I didn’t find the Scythed chariots useful. They don’t have armour and die easily to arrows. Eastern infantry were able to hold off my Scythed chariots lol ( is it because Eastern infantry are classified as spearmen?)

  • @strategydux

Yea they are. But if you manage to pin infantry with your infantry and strike from side and back they are dead. And also point is not to order chariots to attack but to "move behind enemies" that way they "cant be stopped" like normal charge
