One thing that always bothers me about ToTal Wars charging of units into enemy units is everyone just kind of runs into each other standing up. It be nice to see an animation of a soldier or few get trampled, or pushed over, or tripping over themselves when two units collide. TW charges have always looked too clean.

Agreed, I would like to see soldiers tackle each other sometimes and attempt to strangle, pound and wrestle in the mud. Visually the battle will look more gruesome.

In Rome 1, soldiers would step out of the way to let others pass through but CA have got lazy and just can't be bothered with those small details anymore.

In the late carboniferous period, an important change happened in land dwelling vertibrates. The previous sixty million years had produced a lot of salamander like creatures that lived in the wet swamps of the period. But bit by bit some of them developed into more robust land creatures. It started with keratinized skin which was resistant to drying out, but more significant was the development of the Amniotic Egg. Unlike Frog Eggs, Amniotic Eggs had both a hardened shell and the ability to exchange gas with the outside world without Drying out. This allowed land dwelling creatures to evolve. They went from Salamanders to Lizards. Not long afterwards the initial amiotes developed into two lineages, each with diagnostic skull shapes. These were Diapsids ) with (two sets of additional holes in their skull called temporal fenestra) the ancestors of Lizards, Turtles, Crocodilians and Dinosaurs and Synapsids (which had a single set of temporal fenestra) the ancestors of Mammals, as well as a bunch of other vaguely mammal like creatures.

Brilliant. The attention to historical detail, including the units and geo-cultural diversity is amazing !! With the exception - CA PLEASE fix the crested guard helmets (@5:34), eg 'Armoured Anatolian Spears' (@6:12). The cheek guards should cover the whole cheek down to the chin (like a Roman Imperial Helmet) and the top-front plume stand higher and be thicker. And the pirates in lime green (@5:56) .. hmm.

I think you need to look up "Canaan", Judea as a region wasn't really a thing until the 700's BCE, this game is set around the late 1200s to 1100s BCE. In fact the fact Judea exists was because Canaan collapsed with the larger Bronze Age Collapse the game climaxes with.

Khorne and Nurgle aren’t opposites though, I’d say that Khorne and Nurgle have the most beneficial relationship-though still hate each other cause Chaos. Nurgle represent the cycle or life death and rebirth Khorne represents battle, glory, honour, and war. Khorne kills life = Death = Nurgle diseases rebirth

Advices for Mr. Hector: CA is not backed to the corner yet. They've yet to use their trump card; Medieval 3, Empire 2, Shogun 3, Rome 3 or Napoleonic War 2. It's bizarre how with each successive genre they've somehow made it worse and worse. Shogun 2 & Napoleonic TW was one of the great example of good story telling and immiserize gameplay. All they need now is to release one of these, Medieval 3 being the most likely candidate. One genre alone is sufficient, after all it's in the most likely case to be CA's golden goose, pig, or cash cow whatever you may call it. It would lay plenty of golden eggs. Just squeeze the cash cow nipples for milk and there & there goes the revenue streaming back in. It's hard to screw up, yet considering the current state of the economic, some may be reluctant to spend little on games, but if Medieval 3 is revolutionary, bring new mechanics, and past storytelling events like Shogun 2, there's no doubt they'll do just fine. One of the most frustrating faults in recent times of CA historical games lacking depth of story telling (role playing) from previous generation such as Shogun 2's story telling. Moreover, it's extremely unsatisfying taken into consideration most battles, campaign maps are not as historical, nor are the mechanics historical enough either. Napoleonic TW spotlight mod is one great example of what CA should seek for in terms of the numbers of units on the battle field to simulate a actual battle, whereas in other game such as TW troy failing so miserable being the battle , UI, and art style feel so unsatisfying. Furthermore, the sounds / menu song is the utter most importance. Thinking about it, of all the past games I could recall back to, it's alway the songs that remind me of, thus making it iconic like the original TW Rome and Medieval. Another concerning being the AI should not be just more difficult with buff (kind of stupid), rather they should be more intelligence in term of tactics being toe-to-toe with actual player. These AI being able to form confederation when other AI, or player has become too power like Napoleon's threat to Europe's peace and ruling order. Atilia's 1212 AD Mod is a great example of the story telling, and mechanics that should be enable to player such as forming a new kingdom, declaring an empire, and so forth. It seem that endgame often feel the most lackluster. There should be a titanic clash that would decide the fate of the empire as was Rome and Carthage deadly duel for hegemony

It's very sad to see "fans" would rather have this game fail so they can watch the dozens of click-bait videos on how the TW series is dead while things get worse for everyone who actually cares about playing good TW games than supporting Sofia, the only CA studio that has any kind of competence left. This is CA Sophia, so they really can only touch Troy afaik. Furthermore, CA has abandoned 3k (making it abandonware prettymuch, they probably won't update shogun 2 anymore unless by some miracle they add chats back- and why tf would they update rome total war? That game came out in like 2004. That being said, you might mean remastered, in which case I would agree but again, isn't Sophia's thing.

Though they attested in the Canaan region in around 1208 BC by the Merneptah Stele. I figure they won't be added due to their history from this time comes from a religious text, though I personally believe is to be based on actual events, but a lot of people don't think that.

@@ancienthistorygaming I mean the Israelites weren’t some make believe nation though. There’s archaeological evidence that shows they were an established kingdom during this time. They were obviously strong enough for the Egyptians to mention their victories over the Israelites. To make a historical Bronze Age game that leaves out a nations history doesn’t seem very historical to me.

@@kpellican they did exist, its just hard to justify them as a significant power of the time, when a lot of their historical importance comes from much later. I would say they are about as important as the Phoenicians but probably less important then the Middle-Assyrian empire for comparison. Canaan was still the predominantly important regional power which is why we have 2 Canaanite leaders. Its really a objects in rear view mirror are smaller then they appear thing.

I will not buy another Total War for the rest of my life. I've supported it for years but cannot convince myself to continue anymore. Enough is enough. Overpriced half-baked ideas, served in micro bites.

One of the most interesting factions in the game. I was actually hoping that they would appear as factions in Troy TW,... Even though I find the Bronze Age super interesting and find many of the domestic political mechanics in the game to be a good addition, the price (price = smaller scope than Three Kingdoms, Attila or Rome2) unfortunately bothers me. I'm waiting to see how the game develops and whether we have more new cultures and map additions to the east (Hayasa-Azzi, Elam, Assyria, Babylon), west (Thrace, Mycenae, Lukka, Wilsua etc.) and north (Pala). I'm also worried about the attempt to slowly introduce (paid) skins for units into the Total War franchise...

The scope is smaller but the mechanics are much more in-depth. The size of the map is less important than the quality of the content in it.

Honest question, by "smaller scope" do you mean geographic coverage or map size? Because Pharaoh covers more cultures than 3 Kingdoms and it has more provinces than base game Rome 2. I dislike the inclusion of paid cosmetic packs as well but it is really worse than the "pay for better units" policy that CA started in Empire and continued in different ways in the later games? I suspect the cosmetic packs is a forced inclusion demanded by CA central management or by SEGA since it is so unlike how CA Sofia does other parts of their games.

@@Vonstab Good question... the size of the map is great, I personally think that more detailed geographical regions are far more interesting than large "world maps" anyway. I just think it's a shame that the north coast of Anatolia and the entire Aegean region are not playable. Mesoptomania is debatable, as this region would be quite demanding in terms of cultural diversity. I can grudgingly understand CA Sofia's decision not to have it in the main game. But I just expected more for a 60Eu expensive game. I always compare Pharaoh with games like Rome 2 or Attila (is an even better example, since Attila and Pharaoh built on their respective predecessors, be it engine or use of the same assets): We already had all regions in the main game as well as cultures represented, the DLCs have expanded certain cultures with more functions/mechanics/units/assets or even split existing cultures to create new cultures (like the nomadic tribes in R2). In Pharaoh we don't even know if there will be any map expansions at all; or whether we will ever get completely new cultures. The three planned faction DLCs (you get them with the Dynasty Edition) can be anything, from Sea Peoples leaders to other Hittites or Egyptians. This epic campaign DLC can also be anything, from a mini-campaign to, for example, Ramses II or a "Mortal Empires"-like campaign, where we will be given a combined map of Troy and Pharaoh. Everything is still too daring for me, which is why I'm really waiting to see how the game develops.

​@@GermanOlle Sea Peoples DLC is guaranteed sooner or later, they are too important. And in recorded gameplay clips, there were no Peleset, Denyen, Ekwesh and Sherden invasion forces. Perhaps they will show later, but it's a little bit suspicious that they are not on map yet.

I miss Archers doing volleys instead of a endless stream. Much more epic to watch salvos. Shogun 2 had amazing arrows/volleys.

Its bronze age warefare ,its suppose to be the most basic form of total war . It aint my style but i can't say its a terrible game .

Just remember boys the less copies they will sell the faster Denuvo gonna be removed, because it's no reason to pay Denuvo every month fixed bill if game doesn't sell at all

After them, lots of Hellenic factions come, then Persian, then Macedonian, then Seleucid with Ptolemy around war for influence around Anatolia, and then Rome taking over them,..... Loooong, and after the fall of Rome, still many Christians factions come to get position on the region, and then....... Turks come, after Mongol back and settle in China

TROY patches with fixes when?

We all know the game is trash but even the aestethics are so childish, you can see some historical inspiration but that's about it

Bronze age without the Ruler: Hammurabi or Nabucodonosor King of the Babylonian Empire, or in the eary bronze age : The Dynasty of Ur, remember that the cradle of civilization occurred here in Mesopotamia if we do not have this is fake content, we deserve the Chaldean dynasty playable as other big campaign with all kingdoms of Canaan : Moabites, Amorites, Philistines, Hyksos, Hurrians, Ammonites and the kingdom of Jericho. This game is joke like a small campaign we deserve global map if you like to use priority in Egypt is ok, but try to made more immersion or global sub campaign like old Rome 2 for play with more historical content for example Baylon the true empire that conqueror all Mesopotamia. Its history is divided into two main stages; the Paleo-Babylonian Empire (1792-1595 BC) and the Neo-Babylonian Empire (612-539 BC), during which Babylon dominated all of Mesopotamia.

CA dropped the ball here big time, should have been working on a new Empire TW or Napoleon TW, with the movie about to come out and all the attention it has been getting, it would have been a huge success, but naaaaah, instead of listening to your costumers you went with this bs that quite literally nobody asked for.

A definite no buy off me. Total war sucks nowadays. Bring back teams that made rome shogun and medieval. Bring back total mods conversions....paywalls everywhere with Moddershall blocked makes games like a free to play mobile strategy clik and fight garvge. When l bought medieval...l felt value for money..realistic battles...zoom in and amazing!! So sad to see total war is dead. Manor lords is only game that gives me hope in a game that is new medieval type strategy game.

Overpriced Saga game. Do not buy at this price. It's not customers fault because incompetent managers make bad decision and CA now rise prices everywhere to cover the loses. It's better to burn everything to the ground now than empower them to do in the future the same crap as they did with other beloved franchises. If you want more money then deliver games and content that deserves more money. Enough shrinkflation. Fire all managers an let the creative people do their jobs and deliver value.

anyway, even if the game will be beautiful and I'm waiting for it with hype, the UI remains the ugliest ever created

I am not going to buy Medieval 3 or Empire 2. I prefer the time period in Pharaoh to Rome II.

​@@ancienthistorygamingI still have hopes, that creative assembly will make some expansion pack or something like that for Rome 2. Maybe we can call it realism updated map mode or anything, which when selected, the map of grand campaign or emperor campaign, can have real migratory tribe and nomadic same as with Attila. Because Schytia, Germanic, even some Arabs, and African Garamantian factions in Rome 2,must be nomadic or migratory tribe, even some Ireland tribes is migratory too.

How is 9 minutes a deep-dive? Must be a very small faction

I agree 9 minutes is too short, but I presume it's partly because they've covered mechanics that will be present overall in previous videos-

Historical TW people even tho I can understand the price is ridiculous for a smaller scope let’s rally around this game. We were here LONNNNGGG before the fantasy TW people and will be here after. I for one happy that battles will not be decided by single entities, 1 man doomstacks, doomstacks in general, items and magic but will be decided by steel and shield or in this case bronze and shield!!!

No we shouldn't encourage an ultra expensive game with nothing new to show off except a few campaign gimmicks or the fact that no improvements to the ai have happened to even justify the price hike

I'm a historical fan, that doesn't mean I'm going to support greedy anti-consumer practises. They increased the price from £35 to £50 as this is a Sagas title. I will now wait until it is £20 just to spite them. They try and force me to pay an extra £15, then I'll pay them £15 less than I otherwise would have.
