Great coverage on the Franks. I've recently started using them as I've grown tired of ERE and wanna experiment more. Sadly I had to learn the hard-way about the francisca and its friendly-fire.It appears the Franks dont giv a shit when throwin those motha fuckas round da bfield. Nga gotta pop a few homies if he wants to keep his turf safe yo. I had no idea their inf performed better in shieldwall as well. Who would've guessed? (Well obviously you, you sophisticated bastard.)

We were actually able to chase my grandmothers maiden name all the way back to the Franks.

Frank Spearmen throwing javelin? Never seen that in my game

If I may concerning their campaign, before you train the heerbann and elite Germanic spear you should consider first researching Billeting they will practically lessen the upkeep costs of elite heerbann and elite Germanic spears.

Yeah they really are. Pretty decent Cav with the Frankish Lancer and so on. And their infantrie component is really strong :D Just my guesses :D

Hey Maximus, is there any way you can tell creative assembly that it shouldn´t be "SACra Franzisca" but "SCAra Franzisca", for in latin its "scara,ae" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scara.. the "scara franzisca"-> the frankish (war)band were a elite force of the frankish kings. Nice video by the way :D

You forgot to mention that noble germanic horsemen have encourage, that's the whole reason they cost that much

I didn't forget it. Encourage and Steady is not worth 150. 150 is enough to give 2 Germanic Horsemen a total of 10 chevrons, boosting melee attack and defense by 3, and moraleb by 2 giving them only 1 less morale than a nearby Noble would confer - the difference being that the veterancy also upgrades offensive capabilities and isn't reliant on them being near that unit.

Every time I see the Ignore Terrain units (from Huns and Vandals roster) I die a bit inside. The Ignore Terrain allow you to outpace anyone, jet their stats are a tier below their cost and a shortage of ammunition. :'( Such potential in those factions to really take use of forest heavy maps. I dream of being able to spam Hunnic Ambushers in a forest heavy map. Kite into the forest with parthian shot, into the vicinity of a group of infantry that has scare ability to quickly finish of units. Wardogs would be super useful in forest battles, specially versus archers or other stationary units, because dogs don't have a banner like units have. They would be invisible from a birds-eye point of view. CA plz!

Germanic Levies, and their javalins are very much a wake up call boss for the cavalry factions. They all spawn in the middle of the german homeland, where the AI's spear spam forces you to learn how to beat spears with cavalry (Cost effectively,) as threading the needle through all of those precursors is suicide. Edit: The the First Frankish lancers has wedge, which increases charge speed and acceleration by 100%, this is incredible as it halves the distance needed to pull off a good charge, and doubles the potential impact damage, while also adding melee attack, and 15% charge bonus. If you remember to wedge when in range, you will deal incredible damage.

Wedge is very nice in cav on cav, against infantry it needs to be used with care as it seems they can get surrounded easily and take a pounding from precursors/missiles and pull out slower if one forgets to turn wedge off.

With care, or with incredible timing. If you activate it while turning, after pulling out, or as you hit the maximum charge speed without it, you can get the benefit without the flankable formation being formed up. Of course, it would be borderline impossible to design wedge in a way that verifies out formationless wedge charges. Additionally, it does a better job at fanning out at impact and not getting flanked to death even if you do enter an actual wedge. Overall, it really does still depend on judgement and timing, but if it is used right, its one of those things that might be useful for nuking entire units while only taking three casualties. Not shock cav spam levels of powerful due to the attentiveness requirements, but something that is a useful option for most armies

Were cav skirmishers given Parthian Shot? I swear I saw Night Raiders with it recently.

Yeah low armoured but they have some pretty decent line infanry don't they ? And Germanic Archers which are very good. But I guess you're the last person I have to tell this xD

Can't you charge in, let the units start attacking each other and then activate Shield Wall?
