Alright, but why does that alcohol lose its hydrogen and then bond to the cation?? That's so confusing

Whats the source of this?

I would like to point out a mistake in the diagram shown at 7:50. The aromatic ring of the indole group doesn‘t need a further double bond in the heterocyclic ring, as the ring already implies three double bonds, making 2 pentavalent carbons the way you drew the structure

so it was pretty easy after all - good eye on the disconnection, RB
