Total Solar Eclipse (360°) - Homestead National Monument

Ғылым және технология

“Go away clouds!” was the chant of the day at Homestead National Monument. The 2017 total solar eclipse played hide-and-seek with an enormous crowd. This 360 video captures the moment of the eclipse and the huge expectations of the crowd. Bill Nye, CEO of the Planetary Society, and Dr. Amy Mainzer, a NASA jet propulsion Astrophysicist narrate the exciting moments from the stage.
(This video will be edited with other locations from throughout Nebraska, including Alliance, Gibbon and Lincoln, giving viewers a full 360 experience throughout the state.)

I was just up the road in Grand Island. Those were the shortest 2.5 minutes of my life. I almost got too carried away taking pictures, but thankfully I tore myself away and just LOOKED. Nothing can come close to your own eyes for taking in this experience.

This video was produced in 360 degrees! If you are viewing it on your laptop, tablet or phone, you can move the image around using your mouse arrow (click and drag) or your finger. If you are viewing it on your phone or tablet, you can also hold the device up and move it around you to see the whole sphere of the video. Just move your device to where you want to look. We find this is the most natural way to view a 360 video outside of a VR headset.

Loved the experience. I'd like to thank the people of Beatrice for getting this set up. We were not far from the stage and I think you can see what I was feeling. That cloud bank blocked the last 3% of partial and I was getting crestfallen. Then BAM...the clouds broke away and the wind climbed and everyone cheered!

OMG how annoying to have some random person narrating the eclipse for the entire crowd as it's happening.
