I believe it has been proven that Eddie and Donn Landee recorded and cut that tape that messed up the SMPTE code at Westlake studio not Sunset Sound. Chris Gill has the receipts.

I used to complain that the guitar part was stolen from Nazareth-Hair of the Dog, then a couple of years ago I read that Nazareth nicked it from another song.

I knew Eddie did just the Solo. You can hear the difference in playing style.

It is a misleading title. There's nothing new to the story. EVH only played the solo and he did change the rhythm(chord structure) for it, but Lukather took care of the rest.
