It's not a couple arguing, it's just his new technique for adding vocals to guitar.

SuperCharleh wonder how many times he's explained his slap technique now. people need to realize also his thumb is inhuman it literally looks like it bends 90 degrees in the wrong direction. I can play this technique mainly because I play bass as well but it doesn't quite sound like tosin. also don't think he liked the guitar a lot it seemed to fight him a little but cool looking. may have just been the setup.

God bless the guy who picked up that pick.
I'd love to hear a straight jazz album from Tosin

a lot from the first album is jazz related, just because it doesn’t have a clean tone on it doesn’t mean it can’t be jazz. songs like modern meat and tessitura are cleaner though

If I met him, on arrival, I would immediately drop to my knees in pure joy. That man is one of the reasons I play guitar. I swore to myself that I would be able to play like him one day.

@@mrmisterman999 Jason Becker has influenced about 90% of the modern prog players if you ask me. Look how much Japanese scales are used nowadays. All thanks to Cacophony. As for me, if someone asks the band that changed my playing style completely, it'll be Cacophony.
Being as technically talented as Tosin is, I can imagine most people becoming completely big headed and turn into complete arseholes... but Tosin seems really humble & friendly, which is just great to see. One of my very favourite musicians. :)
Brilliant playing as usual/expected, I must say the guitar is stunning!
This guy never ceases to inspire me and depress me at the same time.
The hat matches the guitar. Tosin's always been very careful about clothing.
the guitar sounds amazing super clear and Tosin is amazing ofc
his playing is so clean! :O and incredibly melodic and emotional! :D
the best part is that he plays this with a clean tone! and it sounds freaking amazing!
imagine taking lessons from such a cool dude. incredible!
This made me put down my guitar... He's so fucking talented. And the way he plays with his fingers on the strings with both hands... WOW!
I don't really like Animals As Leaders...but I have so much respect for this guy as a guitarist. He is seriously at the point were playing guitar is really just a walk in the park. He's ridiculously good.
Does anyone else wish that there were more videos of Tosin just fucking around on guitar to watch? These could entertain me for hours.
SUCH CLASS.
Tosin is awesome!
Loads of ideas that would be cool to hear in another semi-solo album, would be a good idea after the aal live album! :D
I just bought this guitar!!
wow...I got no words for Tosin and his teqnique..the Strandberg is like a toy in his hulkhands.. im speechless
So much class.
obviously tosin is so fun to watch, but for real that guitar sounds very clean, very smooth. i like :D
Too good!
Tosin is mindblowing.
This guy is fantastic, i mean his technique, style and skill is unique. As for playing fast shred, damm he is fast and alot faster than the typical metal head shredder but at the same time he makes it look effortless and not even to ever have to hide behind distortion although he does use on and off during his solos, but flip he is a real guitar extraordinaire
Love that Freakin guitar! Such a good look!
His fingers are pure magic.
awesome
amazing technique------------
tempting time so rocks
2:44 - 2:48 is nuts. Can anyone offer some insight on to what that riff is?

Sounds like he's playing a major triad and then moving it up by whole steps and then adds the #11 at the end. I could be wrong though. Haven't tried to play it.
@azzans
7 жыл бұрын
yeah if you move up semi tones of the same exact phrase it sounds like something out of an NES game. it's pretty simple, just play a triad and move it up a half step over and over and it will have this weird kind of sound that makes u think of nintendo.
That's a wonderfull axe Ola!
It's a bass guitar technique developed by Victor Wooten that Tosin has applied to his 7 and 8-string guitar playing. You slap the Lowest E string and pick with your thumb. It really weird and awkward at first, but with time, you get used to it and you can develop speed like Tosin has. You can tell he's been working on it for quite some time, years I imagine, just by looking at the way he arches his thumb when playing. The opening riff and lots of "An Infinite Regression" uses the technique.
We will heard about him in 100 years for sure.
That guitar sounds so full and balanced.
Tosin sounds so good on the Strandberg.
I'd love to see Tosin abasi plays on Strandberg live...
0:37 - I love you, you know that? Yes...we all love Tosin.
@Rockyroopam Yeah man its in Behaving Badly, thanks & happy new year!
I like his rhythmic style
insane speed
I would love to just have a whole album of just Tosin's doodles.
Like a boss!!!
I fucking love Tosin. His guitar work is sublime....
@facemash Thank you so much.
this guy must have been a 10 hour a day player like steve vai he's bloody amazin i love the note ranges he uses
Those have to be the most beautiful sounding pickups ever.
Haven't heard him play bass, but i already know that he's mastering it.
Holy shit...this guy is for real. Master.
YEAAASS, i would be so sad cuz that guitar has such a beautiful sound. Especially live!
@495Music The tapping at the start is 'Tempting Time' by Animals As Leaders
matching your guitar and hat. swag.
i would def keep that pick!
What you did at the beginning with displacing tempting time down an octave you could do up an octave in all 4ths tuning.
Now this guy have a power in his hand.
Tosin is a miracle and a holy blessing. Its a mircle that Tosin has reached angle bard status. Angle bards specialize in music. They create such amazing music that only angles them selfs can hear. But Tosin earned the right of angle bard status. He defeated god in a guitar
for real! agreed.
oh my god he's my idol
awesome palyer
Tosin Abasi = Playing guitar like a badass sir!!! :D
Godin has been playing guitar for well over 10 years...he's by no means a bassist, guys. He's just one of the most advanced guitarists in the world.

god i need a tab book for all the AAL songs. i shall master them.
Best part about this. He's just shooting the shit with a fan while doing this. Cool points +3
I love it as well, it just shows a profound respect. He didn't run off, he didn't make a big deal, he just gave him the pick back, putting it where it was. Now that I think about it, I'm laughing as well.
7 strings guitar... he must have felt naked. Seriously, still haven't fathom the double thumping technique. I've watched videos but I still feel helpless. Tosin give me your strength. (P.S: I really dig your guitars, especially this model , what a gem)
Damn..... How is his tapping so precise and powerful?! What the hell?

8 years later still wondering
I love the fact that Victor Wooten is one of the suggestions! :D
unique style
1:23, that's a trick he got from Victor Wooten, and he's applying it to the 8-string, so genius.
Man! Can this guy play....yet to put it on record, in my opinion. Looking forward to that day!
Holy shit I want that guitar.
I wish I owned that guitar
Tosin is in a side Jazz project called T.R.A.M.
@495Music he was playing 2 string arpeggios across the neck. From what I see alot of Abasi's playing is arpeggio based
@hardyrulez96 I think the tuners are on the underside of where the neck ends. I'm just taking a wild guess though, I really have no idea either
@DuralastTurbo he is getting one. hes having a custom strandberg 8 string being built as we speak
I really want one of these guitars. Either that, or seeing Tosin play it is giving me some false hope that it may make me as good as him.... :(
💛
Can we all just take a moment to appreciate how classy Tosin looks ALL THE TIME! I bet he made the rest of name feel utterly inadequate...
@BashYouLongtime That tapping at :15 is from Tempting Time. 2:00 is from Song of Solomon. A lot of the finger picking around 3:00 is from Modern Meat.
At 2.07 i couldn´t resist (FACE PALM). He is incredible.
I can only imagine all the people who went to NAMM to see the same fenders and gibsons of the last 40 years, watch somebody like Tosin play a headless guitar with more than 6 strings, and fanned frets.
Does anyone know what the tapping riff is from that he plays at 0:12 ?
Looks like similar picking style as Victor Wooten, very cool on guitar.

Yeah, me too. :)
Are ANY of the things he plays in any of his songs!?! Wow! I wanna hear them!
I Touched That Hand... and as we met eyes, my soul was absorbed into an abyss of heavenly solitude... Tosin is the fucking man, and I recommend all of you see him live and buy his albums... Nay! I demand it!!! (least the album..) BWT
I don't know why I found it so hilarious when that guy picked up his pick at 3:07. :D
My god yes.
