I can relate. My parents have nine children. People don’t like us because there is too many of us. More so because all the older ones are girls. They say we won’t amount to anything. Hmmmm!! The descriptions of this story was too obvious he said that his family was too poor didn’t get hardly any foods on the table for the family but than he said they did received foods Stamps or welfare assistance from the Gov., he also was working which was a plus even with large family, yes foods for the family??? Back in the day when our Hmong first came to settled here in the USA as a refugee we all went through rough time, language barriers, uneducated, but we all care for each other’s so much as long as I can remembered all the Hmomg ppls was so loving, helping one other’s whether in a large or small families. Don’t know where this man was from but it seem like he exaggerating and bragged about his children’s so glad that their life had change for the better. If that was the true story than the hardships was actually shaped us into getting better life. I too went through so much in order to get better as a very young age...Here the USA is a land of dreams, plenty of opportunities and full of milks and honey, the land of promises for a better life if any body willing to tried hard.

You can't say that your story applies to everyone. My parents had 7 of us and our uncles had less children. They always had more than us. My dad worked odd jobs and eventually went to college but we were always poorer. Fortunately our families were very loving and close.
