To date I still in my 78yrs heard any younger ‘newcomers’ achieve the timbre Segovia produced…! He truly was a Genius !

It’s not clear what you mean by “achieving the timbre”. But is you mean overall virtuosity and musicality, there have been plenty who have surpassed Segovia, David Russell, Julian Bream, Manuel Barreuco, and others too numerous to mention, many benefitted from Segovia’s example but have taken the instrument to a higher level.

Timbre refers to the “combination of qualities of a sound that distinguishes it from other sounds of the same pitch and volume.” I would add that timbre would also be achieved by the fingers and nails. If the instrument is changed, the timbre would change. If the hand is changed, the timbre would change because we all play differently. This is what gives the performance a “distinctive character.” This, too, is timbre. Each guitar is made differently and with its own distinctive timbre. Segovia himself, depending on how he approached the guitar can also affect the timbre. Someone else can play the same guitar and achieve a different timbre. As you one can see there are a number of factors that affect the timber. Timbre is not necessarily a good measure of virtuosity much less of a performance.

@@robbrown8483 Timbre is a stupid technical word that actually means " Tone " or more specifically " Sound ". The other comment I must make is that Segovia recorded for a couple of decades on gut strings, and they had a much warmer sound than nylon, obviously.

I was priveleged to see Segovia live once, many years ago in Oakland, California. What a consummate artist.. He pretty much single=handedly established the classical guitar as a serious musical instrument.

この曲は「こう弾くんだ」と言わんばかりの確たる矜持。
Excellent technique! Lots of it copied by later rock guitar heroes, like sweep picking, palm muting and integrating flageolets.
