This is honestly kind of funny. They say that the old sirens can't be activated in the same fashion that the new ones can be, but they upgraded their old Thunderbolts, 2T22s, and STL with Federal Signal FC radios that basically make the old siren act like a new one. Not to mention that the older units are very easy to maintain given that parts are easy to find and if you can't find the exact part, there's always a perfect substitute. Let's run over the false statements in this video shall we? "First, it's getting rid of old WWII equipment..." No, not really. All these sirens were installed well after WWII was over. These are Cold War era sirens. "These will be able to sync with the county-wide notification system... with ultimate goal of setting these off in polygons instead of county-wide" This doesn't make sense, because the old sirens all had up-to-date radios that give them the ability to be activated the same way that the new ones are. "... that one may or may not work, even though it's got a battery backup..." This is funny that she was informed like this, because ALL of JeffCo's sirens are AC only, even the newest ones. They do not have batteries and do not function if the power is out.

Might I also add that there is NO sound like a THUNDERBOLT 1000-T. Speaking from experience, those WILL wake you from a deep sleep with their signature (yet delightfully terrifying) wind-up!

Since when did older sirens have battery backup. Also they don't make the parts anymore, gotta find em used now.

@@gym08gotbanned60 JeffCo’s old sirens never had batteries because they weren’t designed for it. Their new sirens don’t even have batteries. Also yes parts are everywhere for the old sirens because classic Federal sirens use off the shelf parts.

Roblox Gamer they got 2001s that don't even have battery backup. Yes, a 2001 is gonna have better coverage than a Modulator, but they should've gotten battery backup

What if it completely falls in your home and in your bedroom then lands on you how bout then huh? Lol 😂

It is an outdoor warning siren. If you live near one that's great, however, it is not meant to warn citizens in their homes. This is why we in emergency management recommend having a weather alert radio in your homes. Jay D. Emergency Management Coordinator

Federal Signal 2001 sirens suck. Bring back the Thunderbolt!

I mean that I always hear them inside so how was it the saying it's only decide to hear outside which is kind of stupid because what if someone doesn't even have radio or TV that's why they also put a modulator next to our house which is so loud

Marisa Horton Ikr I live about an 1/8 of a mile from a FS 2001-130. At night my phone goes off in the emergency alert, I will wake up and just lay there waiting for it to shut off, since usually it’s nothing major, and then I hear the siren. I jump right out of bed when that thing goes off.

Wow, they had to replace a cool, actually pretty modern looking, federal signal, with a "modern" crappy 2001 model....I must send a complaint!
